*** Just a heads up, it looks like due to headset updates this solution is not currently working correctly any more, unfortunately**

I have seen the question numerous times.. How do I play wired Oculus Link on my Quest, but keep my battery charged? That question is pretty easy to answer now, with the powered Link cable from Kuject. This uses your factory Quest 2 charger to keep your headset charged while playing PCVR!!

The stupid thing here is that we now need to buy extra stuff to get the Quest 2 do something that it used to do with a standard USB-C cable out of the box. Before firmware update 26, The Quest 2 charged just fine when connected to a PC using its own cable (or a 3rd party cable for that matter). Meta changed something causing the Quest to no longer charge and they are unwilling to fix it. People have been asking this for years now but as we came to expect from any facebook company, they simply ignore their users.

Awesome video. No 10-minute explanation, straight-to-the-point. Love it.

I bought this a few weeks ago and I'm super happy with it. Cheaper than a new motherboard and other cables.

This would be a great solution for VR games dev as I'm constantly putting the headset on and off over over a day and find the regular link cable helps the Quest run for about 5 hours before it runs out of battery. I currently have a swap to another Quest (which is easier than getting the Rift S set up) but will pick this up once it comes to the UK

Was originally very bummed when my Rift S was suddenly not able to be used anymore with my PC/graphics card. I play a ton of VR games online with friends, and I figured the best option for me was to get a Quest 2. On a full charge, then when plugged into my PC, it still only has about a 2 and a half hour battery life, if that.
This video seems to help my issue, I bought one and will give it a try. Thank you!

been kind of annoyed with my setup recently, as I have been just wanting to use it wired. Wireless is great, occasionally, but latency and lag spikes are just not something I *want* to deal with. issue is, quite commonly, my headset is out of juice. Ive been looking for a cable like this, and while I was hoping for something that would have the power source near the *end* of the cable so I could use my battery pack, I think ill be fine with this setup.

Just bought this cable and it performs about the same as my Anker power bank (Airlink). I play with 120HZ so it is above the recommended setting. The battery does drain for me. It took about 1 1/2 hours to get from 100% to 80%. After it gets below 78% it drains about 10% every hour. This performed that same as my power bank when using air link/virtual desktop. Even though it still drains I am very happy with this purse. 8-10 hours of continuous playtime is more than enough. I'm sure I could get the cable to actually stop draining if I set it to 90z but I rather play the PCVR games at complete max settings. I typically play like an hour or so at a time. Set it down and come back like an hour later and its fully charged.

There is another option I have recently started using since upgrading to a 3080 Ti that doesn't require a new cable purchase. I'm a Virtual Desktop user for PCVR & after upgrading from a 2070s to a 3080 Ti & maxing out streaming options on VD, I quickly found that the Quest 2 will eat through the onboard battery & an auxillary battery MUCH faster than it would w/ the lower streaming settings for the 2070s. I decided to break out my old Link cable yesterday after running the Q2 down & fired up Virtual Desktop & continued to play while the Q2 charged off of the Link cable. I ended up just plugging the Link cable into an Oculus charger rather than the PC figuring the rate of charge was likely higher. Long story short, It keeps the Q2 charged while playing, even w/ the Q2 in max thirsty mode. I get that it's a bit rediculous using Virtual Desktop & then nullifying the wireless benefit w/ a charging cable but it does solve exactly the same issue this 3rd party cable addresses for those using Link.... without the need for this 3rd party cable. Now for those that get better performance via cable than Virtual Desktop, this 3rd party solution sounds good but if you're in a similar situation to myself & have the hardware to get really outstanding performance out of Virtual Desktop, it's a great & free option for unlimited play time while not keeping you tethered to your PC. I can just plug in to a power outlet in the normal room I play in & not have to deal w/ running out of juice.

looks like a good product, might buy it, although it is upsetting that I learned about after I already bought a USB C to USB A link cable

If you are fine with playing wireless from the PC and do that a lot, you can also hook up the quest when it needs juice to any strong enough outlet charger with USB C and keep playing. I'm sure that beats what most PC ports can output.

I almost bought this cable but luckily I read the reviews first. It doesn't charge when the Quest is running at 120hz. And the new update is supposed to make 120hz the default now. I'm not sure you would be able to run lower than 120hz. But apparently the game designers are going to start optimizing games to run at 120hz.

"Hey, look at my wireless headset."
"What's the wire for?"
"It connects it to my PC."
"What's the other wire for?"
"Well, you've got to have a wire to provide power to your other wire."

I have gone on quite the journey while trying to find out ways to keep my headset charged while connected to the pc. My goal was to use my headset for PC VR / Quest 2 / Oculus games and also have a virtual multi-monitor setup for my pc so that I don't have to buy additional screens that I don't have space for.

Some things for users to know in case they want a quest 2 and want to keep playing while connected to the PC for those kinds of features. .

1. There are usb type C hubs out there that offer both power and data over their ports, but the issue is they are all sold out or don't offer enough power over the ports to keep the headset charged during power intensive play sessions.

2. You can get a new pcie expansion card for your pc that connects to your pc power supply that does usb 3.0 and usb c, however I got one for my computer and for whatever reason it still doesn't charge the headset fast enough, and after using it once to charge the headset, even though I chose to turn off power suspension to my usb ports, it stopped charging my headset when the headset was turned completely off. So still some issues there.

3. You can connect your headset to the wall charger using the link cable and then connect to your pc using airlink, but you have to have a router capable of wifi 6 protocols and the wifi router has to be within 20ft of your play area, or you will experience data hiccups or latency.

4. Sure, you can connect a battery pack to your headset to extend battery life, but there are no battery packs I found that attach to the headset and allow data passthrough for the pc link cable as well. So you will get longer battery, but you won't be able to attach your physical link cable to get PC data.

All of this means that, after a couple of weeks of trying to find a solution, I'm left with the easiest and most effective likely being a cable like this, with separate power and data connections.

If this doesn't work, then I'm stumped.

You would think that Oculus would have run into similar issues, but I think they would rather try to resolve this with the Quest 3 than create an official product that solves it for the Quest 2.

I just bought this cable with your link, let’s see if it lives up to the hype!

I’m running a GTX 1660Ti and an i7 9th Gen with 32gb of RAM. I hope this does better than air link 😅(air link with steam is still playable, but god the lag is awful at times, and my router is in a different room!)
