This is a really great idea 🤔. I like how they make the cleaning entertaining as well.

Now that's more fun than a dull robot. Plus it keeps the kids entertained. Sounds like a win win to me. 👍
The only thing is that it probably only works for sushi restaurants like this, because if you have a dish with a lot of liquids it'll get nasty really quickly. It'll probably end up being a pain to clean for the staff and if it isn't cleaned well it can either damage the equipment inside or it just starts to stink.

We see a similar thing happening here this year in the Netherlands. They put a deposit on small PET bottles and drinks cans, so that you return them instead of throwing them into nature. However, now the machines get all sticky, some stop working and it really stinks from all kinds of beverages now. Since always some residu remains in the containers that spills out when people throw them into the machine.
Plus the items the machine doesn't recognize get thrown in the bin next to it. Which isn't emptied often enough and also stinks. As a result the from the pile of bottles and cans on top of the bin some end up falling onto the ground and spill more there, and the floor gets sticky.
Yes, that's an annoyance from another country where I think we might have to look towards Japan for a solution to be honest.

Which begs the question... PET bottles big and small, cans and so on. Does Japan have a deposit system that you get returned when you bring back your empty container, or does Japan have a different system? Also I believe it is common to clean the items before bringing them in for recycling, isn't it?
I guess since the Japanese people are really compliant, and think about the other first as well, they are quickly to accept cleaning the items before handing them in. However, I have no clue on how you could promote that behavior in any other western country.

It’s apart of Japan’s culture I really appreciate, I don’t think it could work in any other country.🎉
