Doing savage unlocked a new super power in me. Now I see mechanics in EX and normal modes in slow-motion, it's epic.

I like savage content and would like to do more of it. Unfortunately I've had a lot of bad experiences with the community which has really discouraged me from finishing the tier. I ended up in a static that wasn't a good fit for me, and I should have left earlier than I did but only stayed so I could get weekly loot, and I was also in a situation where someone posted my FFlogs to a discord server without my permission and everyone just used that as an opportunity to insult me instead of actually helping me to play better (none of the people in said discord actually raided with me btw), and the combination of all of that makes me just not want to involve myself in this community. Maybe someday I'll find the right people but I feel like I've just had really bad luck.

Hit lv 90 1.5 week into this tier (got crafted gears, food, and pots funneled by a very supportive friend) and just full PF cleared the entire tier yesterday! It was honestly a blast and insanely satisfying (my friends heard me nearly crying when Pallas Athena died after 3 truly harrowing days wading through trap PF parties) but I definitely am glad to be done progging after dealing with some

I'd like to look for a good static eventually, but opted for PF just to see if I could do it. Knowing I could clear in PF by myself (in a reasonable time frame) just gives me comfort xD The savage fight definitely opened my eye to the game, there really nothing that beats watching your own consistency skyrocket from being barely able read the mechanics to dancing through them while flying through full burst rotations with no mistake.

Been watching your video since I started playing half a year ago, and you definitely helped a lot with the good information and supportive message towards jumping into savage! Thank you!

(Now I can go back and get to 6.4, stopped right after 6.0 just to raid LMAOOO)

I raided back in the day in WoW and it's just stress I don't need now in my 40's honestly. That said: Azurite is 100% on point with that feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction. The first time Gnomes Will Eat You cleared Razorgore the Untamed was an AMAZING moment I remember decades later. It's genuinely worth at least a try.

I’ve been savage raiding on and off since Shadowbringers, and I love, love, love Pandaemonium Savage. P7S is actually my favorite, oddly enough- I enjoy the back half of the fight. It feels good to do right.
My motivation is… well, it’s the internal drive to *be better.* I want to get better for its own sake, and what better way to improve than to do so alongside seven other people, testing my mettle against some of the hardest content FFXIV has to offer?
I love the high-end content in this game as much as I love the lore, the glam, or the RP. You don’t have to be one or the other. Nothing’s locking you into one stereotype. Go forth and test yourself!

As someone who is more casual, I'd like to add that doing savage with Echo is also a good start for someone with little to no experience. Mechanics are still relevant but you have more leeway for mistakes and dps/heal checks aren't that strict. That's how I first tried doing Eden Savage and I had a great time!

But yes! Doing it while current (even with echo) give a more meaningful experience. You miss out so much doing it unsnyc the following expansion. I'm both glad and saddened that E8S light rampart is skippable now.

I dont really have that kidn of feeling like when i beated Elden Ring, my PF savage experience is just like u learning for an exam, nothing more, kinda sad and unpleasant tbh

I’ve played in both statics and party finder but for some reason my performance in party finder is much more better and consistent compared to how I play in statics

Savage Raid is nice, especially for the PF memes, they always come back

I think every youtuber ever has a video like this. So I took the advice and tried, but what all of these videos don't tell you, is that you need quite a lot of time. EW tier one I had a midcore static, that did hardcore times on week 1 and 2. In order to then have good replacements. I only managed to do this because of lockdown and winter time where I was able to reliably fit the scedule into my week. It's the only tier I cleared and I didn't fell any accomplishment after the kill. Mainly because of the other 7 static members I was happy to never see 5 of them ever again. For the second tier, I had less time, so I joined a casual static. What I did not expect was them being so slow, that after 8 weeks, I noticed I couldn't complete the tier and thus asked them to look for an replacement. For the current tier, I had even less time to reliably be there for certain days, so I PF raided. And this takes way way way more time. I mean, I was a bit unlucky too, but for P9S I had to join so many many parties. And people failed so often on fissures and the soccer game, I had no more energy to go further. Plus work ramped up even more, so there was no time.

TLDR: You need copius amounts of time if you want to raid. Or your weekly schedule is so empty, that it's fine to join a static. Either way, say goodbye to real life friends wanting to come over or spontaneous barbecue parties or other activities. And for this tier I decided for myself, that I value my time and the friends more then gear, that will be outdated in 5 months, or the 500th glam piece/ 165th mount.

I've cleared one Extreme raid on PF just to see what it is like but haven't made the jump to Savage or Ultimate. From what I've seen and heard the most difficult thing about raiding is finding the time and the right group. That seems impossible for me. I wish I could at least clear one Ultimate raid someday, just to say I did it and to know what it feels like to do it but at this point it seems really difficult to find the time and people that are willing to take this non-raider there.

Honestly I feel that I can Savage raid and do ultimates, my major enemy is time, alot of statics have days and times they raid, with my free time i rather be doing something else in the game or playing another game than progging a fight with people I dont fully know or trust and that goes for party finder as well. Were it I had more free time I would give it a shot, but for the time being im happy slowly farming tome and normal raid gear for my jobs, besides savage raids and ultimate are but 1 ride in this amusement park and theres many.

Dont forget thay clearing Savage will make it easier to pick up Limsa egirls. One of those Ultimate weapons and you will be drowning in Miqo fur or lizzar scales!

For me the reward is not worth the time investment. As with most rewards in the game, its all just Glamour and satisfaction of completing the content.

these arguments are not very compelling

1) if glamour is what you want there are plenty of other options that take far less time, effort and commitment. the only thing that makes sense to me is ultimate weapons, but getting one is not entirely contingent on YOUR dedication but also that of seven other people's which leads me to my next point

2) most people simply do not have the time nor volition to practice fights multiple hours every day to get into raiding when there are massive hoops you need to jump through. i am an ilvl 642 white mage main, fully melded, and even with the free time i currently have it does not make sense to me to join party finders, wipe, learn a bit, wipe, learn a bit, wipe because of other people, learn nothing, and so on until we manage to clear. my alternative is finding a group of people willing to bear with me as i learn the fights- that is unreasonable and unfair to ask of anyone and you will not find such a group easily at all

3) about experiences and "you wont get to experience it like when it was released", minimum ilvl sync is a thing. ive been playing since heavensward, before SB released by a few months, and i have the exact memories youre talking about. byakko ex and half the party dying to gliding between his orbs, shinryu ex aka falling off the map simulator, nidhogg ex and that time i pulled a healer lb3 and saved the run as the last one alive. even did some of the savage scapes

the people on PF are not very welcoming of people who have not raided before which leads to people lying about clears which leads to terrible experiences. on one side of things you cant blame people for not wanting to play with noobs but on the other i dont feel like its worth my time OR anyone elses time to join a PF for an ex trial when theyre all duty complete/demand youve progged on it at least.

it wasnt like this back then. people were far nicer and more patient. you enjoy raiding and thats great, im happy for you. but many raiders look down on players who want to get into endgame content + its really hard to find people to raid with. if you want to encourage people to raid this is not a good video because trust me, we KNOW. instead a video which points players in the right direction if any and acknowledges the elitism in raiding would be fantastic

This is my first time catching up to the endgame without:
1. Being burnt out just from msq/casual

2. The next expansion coming out the next few weeks

For the first time im actually grinding the current tomestones. I almost have majestic weapon, and am buying 640 gear piece by piece and saving up to 650 comedy tomestone gear.

For some reason this doesnt feel like enough knowing that currently 660 is out there (and will probably increase in october tho), but no matter what approach one does it seems like it is locked behind savage.

I dont NEED this 660 gear as like you say, you have to beat the savage to get it anyways.

However, i actually am struggling a bit with even "recent" casual content. I am dying a lot recently and even wiped on the mother crystal one which really scared me from doing extreme+.

This + having a huge "missing out" fear is really a paradox for me

I’ve been back and forth about wanting to really wanting to try savage on the current tier, and I legitimately enjoy watching guides and understanding how the fights work, but I can hardly work up the courage to just dive in and try, especially as a console player where communication is a bit slower than usual. And even with now been playing for a year almost, it’s mostly due to being anxious and thinking it’d be a disaster even though I know it’s likely not and I’m just being overly worrying.
Mayhaps its just not in the cards for me yet or until I find a group I know I can trust, but I wouldn’t say it’s not for me, I have the patience for progressing and learning the dance. It’s just hard to adjust to entire new style of content that feels very out of my own control. Really it’s about taking that first step. Because I’ve seen these fights on release, and even if it takes weeks, that’s an accomplishment for sure.

I find savage content design in this game to be absolutely top tier encounter design. Its a beautiful dance and often makes fantastic use of different aspects and systems within the combat system. Sure there are many ways to nitpick individual fights for one reason or another but overall its an excellent game design feat to pump these out to the players so competently.

However, I do not Savage raid, and often dont do extremes either despite me adoring the design and ludoaesthetics of them. Why? short answer is 2 words: Other People.
The long answer; its alot more complex but depends of context for certain situations. Basically, I believe it is a clash of several factors that don't work for me personally. First thing is that I have found that over time, if I am doing any content, in any game, with people and some sort of coordination is needed, I will prefer VC coordination. Its clearer, you know who your dealing with, you can read others better, bring up and correct things easily, everything happens quicker and more precisely, even if ppl arent the most precise with words, its all immediate back and forth. Theres also more fun and banter than text communication. So even with just that fact, PF is immediately hell for me. There are other reasons I hate PF too and my most recent example is the fact I've done the latest extreme for 15+ hours now, never cleared, yet can do all the mechanics blind. Why do I keep failing.... OTHER PEOPLE. I just can't deal with randoms who never get mechanics therefore I never clear. God I love the fight but when I have ppl in the group who do the same shit every time and never learn.... drives me feckin crazy lol

Oh and cant do statics either cuz I cant do schedules without lots and lots of flexibility (irl out of my control problem) so fuck me I guess xD

Just my experience and frustration with all this jazz. Hope you enjoyed my random spew :D

Comparing an MMO raid to elden ring boss seems off here. In my opinion, the difficult bosses of souls game and how I die to them is my fault, recognizing them and fixing them bring me satisfaction. In an MMO, not so much, I could never tell if it was my fault or my teammates. If it is my fault, will fixing them allow me to clear? Sometimes. If it is my teammates faults how do I tell them? Should I tell them? Who am I to take away their satisfaction of finding their own solution? Am I underestimating their intelligent when I told them what they did wrong? How will they take it?

and yeah, loot. When I overcome a boss in a single player game I get the satisfaction of the loot, not always in FFXIV.

Edit: Last raid tier I did was Kefka, much might have change.

As someone who is TERRIBLE at this game, I know I'll never do Savage raids legit (and Twelve-forbid I ever dare show my face in an Ult raid), but I have at least tried and tasted basically everything the game has to offer, so I came up with a rough 'scale' of difficulty for content. This isn't official and is just my way of viewing things and hopefully others can kinda determine how 'ready' they might feel for harder content. The scale goes from 0 to 10 and is meant to be an exponentially increase in difficulty, so something being labeled as 1 or 2, doesn't mean it's a small 'step' necessarily for example, in difficulty.

0: Trash mobs in the wild, becoming a Mentor, literally anything NOT otherwise mentioned in this list that's 2 or more expansions old (and done unsynched with others, or solo, depending on the content)
0.25-0.75: Leveling dungeons, solo duties, easier-end hunts, and most regular FATEs (done solo)
0.75-1: Leveling trials (synched)
1-1.5: Finale dungeons, finale trials, sitting through the hours of cutscenes (love this game but it can get a bit tedious with just HOW LONG they talk sometimes), sitting through the credits
1.75: First tier of regular and alliance raids (synched)
2: End-game dungeons for an expansion (anything as part of the 50/60/70/80/90/etc etc going forward sets of dungeons), Treasure Dungeons, normal Variant Dungeons (if done in a group and synched), *This is also where things can actually start feeling even slightly tough*
2.25: Second tier of regular and alliance raids (synched)
2.5 EX-trials that are at least 2 or more expansions old (synched), third tier of regular and alliance raids (synched)
2.75: Very *very* last dungeon, trial, and raid fight of an expansion (first time only, synched), FATE Superbosses (if enough people are around), *This is also the level that 'at most' a super-casual can beat with face-rolling if everyone else is still even halfway decent, let alone actually good*
3: Variant dungeons (solo), Deep Dungeons (first time/solo) *Things really start gettin more legit tough here*
4: First tier of Savage raids (except for the 4th fight, and synched), Savage/Criterion Dungeons (synched, with a team), Baldesion Arsenal/Delubrum Reginae savage (first time)
4.5: Last fight of the first savage tier, second savage raid tier (except for the last fight, synched)
4.75: Last fight of the second savage tier, third savage raid tier (except for the last fight, synched)
5: Last fight of the third savage tier (synched), Ultimate raids
6: Fishing log
6.5: Getting every job/class maxed out
7. Actually gearing every job/class at max level
7.5: Actually finding a Static you can tolerate and not wish to curse their family lineage for three generations
8. Getting the last fucking EX trial mount you lack and the goddamn game won't fucking drop it (or you roll nothing but low numbers time after time!) so you have to grind the fight out 99 times to get it with your Totems of Shame! (Not that *I* have ever had that happen of course)
8.5: Buying a house in-game
9: Getting achievements (any)
9.5: Getting a Triple Triad card (any)
9.75: Getting Commendations as a DPS (extra points if you're a caster who rezzed people to save from a wipe)
10: Mentor Roulette

(Limited jobs like BLU don't really fit on the scale, as they vary too wildly to really be nailed down in any single way)

If I missed anything, lemme know. I will also say though that this game has a weird way of feeling a bit 'overwhelming' your first time doing something, especially as you get up into higher levels, yet the second you actually 'do' beat it, suddenly the anxiety vanishes, or at least for me it has. I've genuinely had god-awful hard fights...then as soon as I beat it once, I can turn around and suddenly the problems I had not but a minute ago are all gone and I can (usually with at least fewer mistakes/deaths) beat something again and again without issue, even if I'm rusty at it and haven't done it in awhile.
