I'm pretty sure that Leia being marked as a General means her bonus only applies to land battles... and Admirals provide their bonus to space battles.

Been watching these campaigns for so long that now captain shack is like a key character in Star Wars for me

Not Shack getting all of his tanks snipped from across the lava flow by something anti vehicle and the l then saying it was the light vehicles lol. I was screaming at him each time the blue laser took out another tank.

Shack impresses me and enrages me throughout each of his videos lol. Like he will win a battle I'd have thought was lost, but then promptly get shredded in battles that should have been a cake walk lol. Never change Shack

"That poor Venator's the next target" (Liberation opens up on it with the s.p.a.t cannon.) Well played Shack.

Rogue Squadron Journal
Week 180 - Ord Mantell
Lt. Witton Bogre - Rogue 4

With Wedge's capture by Moff Seerdon at Polis command of the squadron has fallen to Janson. As for the foreseeable future, or at least until commander Antilles can be found and rescued, Rogue Squadron will be permanently stationed on the Liberation. Surprisingly, at Captain Shack's request. Rogue Squadron has often at times had a somewhat shaky relationship with the Captain but in light of recent developments, such things appear to be in the past. The reveal of a previously unknown class of Star Destoryer, with what appears to be miniaturized Death Star tech being dubbed the "conqueror class" most likely being the motivating factor in his decision.

Unfortunately Alliance intelligence hasn't been, as of yet, able to locate either Wedge or the mysterious destoryer. Despite our worries though, the war continues on. In response to a request from Commander Skywalker to open a path to the seemingly unimportant world of Illum for "Jedi business", we attacked the Black Sun at Aeten 2. While the battle for orbit was a relatively uneventful affair it did give Rogue Squadron an opportunity to adjust to leadership under Janson. He's come a long way since joining, as we all have. He's got the makings of a good leader, hopefully this experience will help shape him into someone who can fill Wedge's shoes. Time will tell.

Sadly though for the ground forces, the Black Sun were well prepared and dug in deep, much like at Ord Mantell. General Kota walked right into an ambush almost immediately after landing. Swarmed and surrounded on all sides, the assault force was essentially massacred. Fighting to a nearby clearing, Kota, severely wounded, called for extraction. Rogue Squadron covered their retreat but there were only a few members of the Fourth Company and Kota's militia left who were still alive to save. To make matters worse, a day after our failure at Aeten 2 we received a garbled distress call from General Rieekan on Ord Mantell. Vader had come.

By the time we arrived it was too late. The attack was over. General Rieekan's forces had held and forced a retreat but at a great cost. Things have been going sideways since the end of Operation Gallant Spear and many are wondering when the next major engagement is going to happen. Many more, myself included, wonder if we're going to have enough to actually win it.

[For context on things said here look at my story comment from last episode in case you missed it.]

Make sure you bring your H-Wings with you when you attack the Executor.

Rebel Diaries 31 - For all his heroism... young Skywalker lacks the strategic intelligence his father had... and coming from me that SAYS something. None of it good. Apparently, our earlier capture of Ord Mantell had also produced alerts that made their way to Skywalker and he jumped at the idea of launching a campaign for Illum. And while I can understand the emotional sympathy to recover Jedi artifacts, I've also been in this business for years before this war, the Clone Wars, or even before Master Windu recruited me into the order. Wars have lots of surprises and taxing logistics. And while the Alliance has made gains in the north... we lack the manpower, equipment, and ships to go as far as Illum and hold on there... Particularly while the Imperials, cut off at Yaga Minor will present the Imperials in the core reason to attack toward it... and thus go through Ord Mantell. For with its shipyards, which the spies say could furnish or support an Imperial Super Star Destroyer, Yaga Minor and its siege SHOULD have been the objective.

Instead, young Skywalker's desire to follow in his father's footsteps set our fleet to Aeten II and set about a series of rough battles. The orbit over Aeten II was fairly well defended... but we did take it, but the Black Sun was well dug in on the ground. Most of our heavy equipment was destroyed and I'm going to need a week in a bacta tank on the Liberation after the injuries sustained. The ground battle was a rout and one born out of rushed planning coming from a teenage boy who knows little beyond going after the next enemy... To a degree, young Skywalker has the exact same flaws his father had in the Clone Wars. Always rushing about without a plan or support. The only difference between Luke and his father in the Clone Wars was that Anakin Skywalker at least had the Republic's industrial might behind him and the clones that served it... and those of us who where there for the Clone Wars know how that ended. Anakin Skywalker's continued friendship with Palpatine lead to him becoming Darth Vader and leading the Empire's devastation over so much of the galaxy.

And that soon presented problems the Empire's attempt to rescue Yaga Minor and showed the stupidity in young Skywalker's idea. With our forces spread thin, Ord Mantell was left alone and vulnerable to Imperial attack and with its ground force isolated. Vader took the orbit with a lone Star Destroyer and then landed a massive force with complete control of the air. Thankfully, General Rieekan was prepared for the attack and had enough artillery to cripple the infantry that landed with Vader. That combined with turbolaser towers not only defeated Vader and forced the Imperials to withdraw, which allowed our fleet, retreating from the ground loss at Aeten II to take out one of the Empire's transports in space. But it's also isolated and weakened our forces in the north... and leaves us with where we were... before, only weaker.

Yaga Minor must still be taken. Illum MUST BE FORGOTTEN ABOUT as we lack the manpower or resources to even make a push for it, particularly while the Empire holds Yaga Minor. The southern fleet has done well in holding Imperial attention and dealing with Imperial capital ships as they've come... That's good, but we must secure Yaga Minor and remove the Empire any real need to push north... Giving us time to build up forces for the likely major fights at the Maw, the Wheel, and at Zhar to secure the outer rim within our own supply lines. And while young Skywalker may disagree... I would argue the past week's defeats and my wounds on Aeten II shows that when one lacks manpower, resources, and a concentrated force... you DON'T hyper extend your lines.

Victory over the Empire will require methodical combat... isolating and securing areas where the Empire is alone. Particularly when it's going to be probable that a major campaign against the Corporate Sector will be needed in the near future. - General Rahm Kota

Senior Captain's Log
Week 180
Orbit of Ord Mantell
[Begin Log]

I cannot believe I am still alive.
Aeten II was hoped to be less of a slaughterhouse and mkre of a stepping stone towards Ilum. Commander Skywalker was of the opinion that ice ball was worth something, so Captain Shack ordered the Northern Fleet to make for it.
The battle couldn't have gone more wrong on the surface. We'd not even gotten close to the Black Sun base before we were ambushed and half our armour was trapped among the burning wrecks of their comrades before Kota called the retreat, it was more of a rout than anything. Kota himself was nearly killed and is now on life support in a bacta tank. Most of the Fourth and Second took heavy losses too. At least 400 of my men are gone and Saurthen lost nearly 700. Didn't help that I'd given him the go ahead to lead the Second ahead of the Fourth, and now he's replaced me in the infirmary, thankfully Onii seens to have taken a shine to him. Now the commander of Saurthen and I is coming to pay us a visit. That is going to suck.
Then while we were licking our wounds, Reikaan sent word that Vader himself attacked Ord Mantell. Losses were severe, Reikaan was nearly killed, and Skywalker's droids R2D2 and C3PO were captured by the Imperials as they withdrew. Only time will tell if they can hack those droids.
As for the Southern Front, there have been running skirmishes with Imperial ships probing the lines. As of yet, nothing akin to Needa's attack has come up. Other than that, there is not much else to speak of other than more ships being produced to replace our losses. That's all for now, Nartha out. [End Log]

I think the main focus is gonna need to be to raid the Empires tech centers as much as possible and just hold the Rebellions current territory and consolidate its frontline space wise.

Captains Log:
Captain Rylan “Saber 1” Brask.
Alliance Fighter Squadron Lead [X-Wing Squadron Callsign Saber]

The battle over Aeten II was largely uneventful. Other than the change in leadership in Rogue Squadron. Janson is now serving as flight lead until we get Wedge back. Alliance intelligence doesn’t know where Wedge is yet but Agent Fox has said that The Empire commonly sends their prisoners to CorSec so they don't have to waste capital on supplying their own prisons. And we know two of our prisoners are there currently, being Ace Azzamen and Kyle Katarn. It would stand to reason that Wedge may be there unless the ISD that took him is holding him. Agent Fox also had some insight on what Agent Nightswan dubbed “Project Conqueror, ”. What it was doing under the ice of Polus no one has any idea. But that dish on the front of it that looks like the same one as the Death Star had? It's basically the same thing but smaller. Agent Fox said it takes quite a lot of power to keep that star destroyer running and fire the laser. As far as she knows it was deemed impractical. But something tells me they’ve started actually producing working models in light of our recent victories. What that means for us is horrifying.

The battle for Aeten II on the ground was not nearly as smooth as the fight in orbit. As our ground troops were landing they were strafed by Black Sun air power. Not long after that Kota and his forces were trapped in an ambush. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Black Sun troops trained so well. Wasn’t long before the Black Sun had them trapped in a kill box. Kota made the call to secure an evac zone. The troops using the bruning wrecks of their supporting armor as cover. It’s a miracle any of the Fourth and Second managed to make it out. Kota is now in the medical bay as well getting regular bacta treatment along with most of the survivors.

After our retreat, some Imperial officer known as Vader led an attack on General Reikans defenses on Ord Mantell. Skywalker droids were captured in the battle but Vader was taken out as well. I have no idea who this guy is but no matter how many times we seem to take him down he always comes right back. I swear it was just a month ago if not a few weeks ago that Skywalker took him down in the south. The defenses managed to hold but they were hit hard. I expected the Empire to be able to bounce back but I never expected it to be this quick.

No great news this week, Captain Brask, Out.

MC60s are a great investment to have ready for when that Super Star Destroyer comes online. A small group of these can keep its weapons de-buffed by a significant amount and almost constantly. Its long range means they can do this from a far and make it much more manageable to fight.

So I got an ISD hero that's new to 2.10 and it has a beam weapon and imagine my surprise when I fired it and heard "Fire up the cannon and write Shack on the hull!" I'm on to you. You're playing both sides of this conflict against each other.

Captain's Log #31. Greetings Commander. I heard about the battle of Manaan. Many are talking calling it a win, but to be honest I feel it was a loss. As it stands we now no longer have a southern fleet strong enough to hold our newly aquired territory. I suggest that the fleet returns to our shipyard to continue the fleet building. I also suggest we build shipyards on Nimban and Nal Hutta. That could work with Rothana Drive Yards to build a new fleet. For now I must be going. I have a meeting with the Commander on Kashyyyk. Admiral Pisces out.

Bilbringi is a pretty significant target that doesn't appear to have a space station, maybe take a poke there? I know that Bilbringi (in lore, at least) was one of the Empire's main shipyards, almost on par with Kuat.

Corsair Cross
Rancor Company
Orbiting Aeten II

It was said that Rancor Company got the best of the War. We also got the worst.

General Skywalker convinced High Command to send General Organa's Battle Group to Ilum. The problem was the Pirate Space Stations and Ground Defenses that blocked the Hyperspace Lanes.

They dared the Rebellion to come after them. So we did. Only to be met with an endless hurricane of laser bolts that cut down infantry, artillery that decimated our tanks, and some sort of repurposed droids that demolished our rear lines.

Our only hope was General Kota, our Jedi Commander. Without his iron will. None of us would have made it our of there with our lives.

Or our sanity.

Today is a shameful day for the Alliance. A fleet was diverted, led by one of our most decorated officers and accompanied by the transports of the Alliance army, not to liberate the Wheel for our valued allies, but to squander the lives and materiel of the Alliance in blind attacks - and for what? For the chance to recover some old relics of a fallen religious order, an order which failed in their only duty, to protect the Republic?

And while this tragic waste was occurring, our allies, who have made concrete and real contributions to this fight, have been ignored! The criminal elements have been allowed to continue to reinforce their position at the Wheel, further denying the security of a perimeter boundary for Mon Calamari. The Alliance needs to seriously re-examine its priorities before our allies re-examine theirs.
