Homemade Hamburger Buns

1 cup very warm (110°F) water
2 1/4 teaspoons (one envelope) active dry yeast
1 large egg at room temperature
3 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
3 1/2 cups (1 lb) all-purpose flour (or, use bread flour)

Glaze: 1 egg beaten with 1 teaspoon water
Optional: sesame seeds
Bake 375°F 15-17 minutes

I made these a week ago and then went to a recent video to let him know they were so easy to make and by far the best buns ever..making them right now but thought if anyone was looking up buns they would be on this video so I came here to let people know if you want the beast hamburger buns ever make these !! I get 8 huge ones per recipe ...we are addicted ...

I went to the grocery store today and, of course, thought about what to have for dinner. I decided on burgers and, thanks to you, I didn't have to buy rolls. These rolls are amazing. Better than restaurant. Thank you. I'll be making a loaf of white bread in a little while to have with my turkey sandwich at lunch tomorrow. 😀

Thanks you! I woke up and saw on my phone, how Wendy's has made a better breakfast menu. So instead of spending money on fast food, I decided I can make my own breakfast sandwich. Mind you I normally dont eat until about 1:00 or 2:00, so this was perfect to make in the morning for my lunch. My bread is almost doubled in size now.
Yes, we have all become better cooks for the most part. I like baking and cooking in general. And a year and a half after we have been quarantined and now with the Delta variant present in large numbers, I am still at home and feel safer here than in restaurants.

Those look so good, Kevin! All through the first months of Covid I made our bread, and still make most of it now. One of the best things about your beautiful hamburger buns is the fact that you know that everything in them is wholesome. I'm also a home cheesemaker and save the whey for making bread and use it instead of the water - Whey increases the protein and the bread takes on a wonderful, savory flavor.

I will make these today. I make lots of bread, here's a hint or two, I proof my bread in my oven with light on. I mix the sesame seeds in the egg wash, also when my bread is ready to bake I just turn on my oven, I don't preheat, it works great.

I tried these and these came out real good. I sprinkled black white sesame seeds and also a few with poppy seeds.

KLJ, I just made these buns exactly like you did and they are the most magnificent ethereal clouds of yeasty goodness I have ever put to my lips. I added 1 extra tablespoon of sugar and I am glad I did. Not sweet just good. Cost about $.18 to make all 8 large rolls. I buy all my ingredients in huge quantities from a restaurant supply store that sells to the public. So my cost is not an exaggeration. Usually I pay $3.00 for good quality buns for a pack of 8.
