Make your own homemade hamburger buns! Easy recipe!

Recipe:

3 and 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/2 stick melted butter (room temperature)
1 egg beaten
1 package of active yeast
1 cup warm water (105 degrees) You may not need it all.

In a mixing bowl put 1 cup of the flour
1 package of yeast
one egg beaten
1/4 cup melted butter
1/2 cup of the warm water (save the other half)
Whisk it together and let sit for 5 minutes
check for bubbles to make sure the yeast is active

In your stand mixer, using the dough hook, and set on stir
put the rest of the flour and the 1 tsp. salt and mix for
1 minute then slowly add the glass bowl mixture.

Once all the mixture from the bowl is in the mixer add
the rest of the water slowly and stop when the dough
is tacky and moist looking. Mix for 1 minute then add
little pinches of flour until a nice dough ball starts to
pull everything off the sides. Mix 3 minutes then remove.

Place the dough in a bowl and let rise for 1 hour.
Then place on a slightly floured surface and cut into 8 pieces.

Put on a cookie sheet covered with parchment paper.
Shape the dough into the bun size you like.
Put them about 1 inch from each other (See Pattern)

Let rise for one more hour then brush lightly with a egg
wash made from one beaten egg and 1/8 cup milk.
Sprinkle sesame seeds on the buns after the egg wash
then bake at 350 for 20 to 30 minutes or until golden brown.
Let them cool to room temp!

I know this is an old video, but I just found it. I have tried numerous hamburger bun recipes and I always failed. I thought it was my fault until I tried this recipe. The buns came out perfectly and the dough was light and rose great. I took the little pinches of flour as you directed. The buns were large, soft, and didn’t tear apart like bought buns. Finally, buns that fit a hamburger or BBQ. Thank you for keeping his old videos on this sight. Miss him. Laura

Tip...
I use 3.3 oz of ground beef and a small frying pan to smash it down thin. They are huge before they go on the grill. I can usually only fit 7 or 8 burgers on a full 3 burner grill, but they shrink to perfect bun size....big and thin comes out perfect

I’m in the process of making these right now. ½ of the dough I made into hot dog rolls. The other ½ into hamburger rolls. It’s in the last phase of rising and then into the oven they go ! Hot dogs and French Fries tomorrow ! The French Fries I’m making in my air fryer combo oven. It’s multi-functional (Breville Smart Oven) and I’m cutting the fries from real potatoes from my PL 8 cutting machine. I think you’ve reviewed all of these items. I just subscribed to your YouTube channel in the last week. I’m so sorry to hear your husband passed. He was a great guy and he obviously loved you VERY much ! I’m a widow too. I have an idea of what you’re going through. My heart goes out to you and God Bless you !
