That first clip seems like it was a fair bit deeper than just a puddle...

I try not to think about how many vehicles are on the road with suspension parts messed up or missing like that!

I've been self-maintaining my own cars, my mother's cars, my friends cars, for 27 years. The battery in my Camry last year appeared to be slightly-weak (it was showing signs towards the end of Winter 2019-20 during a bitter cold snap, but was otherwise still good enough to get by) until every time I tried to start it cold, the solenoid would rapid-click and then nothing - no power at all, except dim interior lighting. Toss it on the charger for half an hour, turn it over, ran fine until the next time it sat overnight. I grab the battery out of my broken 4Runner and get a few months' reprieve until the symptoms return. So I buy a new battery.
Install the brand new battery, and the very next night as I'm about to leave work, same symptoms. I'm livid, I just bought my first gel cell battery because I finally had the expendable cash to upgrade. So I'm under the hood using four-letter-words to excess, as I wait for my mom to come down and give me a jump start. Jump start won't "take." Hmmm, that's odd. Go to check the jumper cable connections, and I discover, to my embarrassment:

...wait for it...

THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE WAS LOOSE AT THE TERMINAL END. I tightened up the terminal end to the cable, and boy did I feel like an IDIOT. The original battery was probably still good. The 4Runner's battery was good. The "nut holding the steering wheel" was bad. lol

When you see household wire nuts under the hood you know you're dealing with a professional.... nutcase

I have done that before, had a cold air intake to close to the road and sucked water up in it going through about a foot of water that was on the road from a rain storm and I couldn't get over in time to avoid it. Car die but got it to restart went home and drained the oil and flushed the water out of the crankcase but the engine was making a weird knocking sound at idle, then it threw a rod right through the oil pan. I ended up pulling out the engine and changing bent valves in the head and got a good set of pistons and rods from the junkyard, bought new rings and bearings a head gasket and a couple other seals have the car back running stronger than ever. Till years later a cop hit me totalling my car, but that's a whole other story. Wasn't going to rebuild it after that.

I'm always amazed how fast some people will drive through deep puddles. A few ounces of water in the intake and adios to your engine plus you get to look like an idiot when it stops dead as a door nail with hydrostatic lock.

I love how we can all appreciate the wrench holders next to that ECU

1:40 is how you get a $6, 000 car for $600 after most "shops" can't solve it. Intermittent problems are def a pain though.

I'm surprised and terrified how often I see peoples cars are held together with plastic zip ties

Always a good idea to give the hood or fenders a few taps to make sure any critters ain't in there before you start it up

As a former boat mechanic, I know your pain. Some of the stuff that we found either wrong or what customers did to their boats are just mind blowing!😬

Na, I don't need an engine rebuild. Just put new rod bearings on it and that'll do.
Honestly, my first car was $200 and seized on the way home after it heated up. Got it home, pulled the head and pan, replaced the piston and rod with a junkyard part, no problems. Drove it for a few months and sold it for $400 to a guy that didn't mind the repair. Last I heard, the guy drove it to Florida and never had any problems with the car.

Wire nuts never get old in cars. That's when you know every repair is suspect.

I have had over the years a number of costumers who had dead animals in the engines. I've seen all these, now as a old man nothing surprises me anymore. 👍❤🇺🇸

First person declined repairs. Just going to leave it in sun will dry out few days no problem.

Have a friend that had an 07 caravan with the fuse box issue. They'd be driving along, dash would go dark, they'd reset the main pigtail, everything would come back. They tried a lot of things to fix it, but it eventually got sold cheap.

I knew something seemed odd about the coolant one. I didn’t notice in time for u to say it though. Had a good laugh.

The Raptor one at 3:21, imagine the idiot causing a short and catching it on fire? For your stupid TSC $100-$200 light bar you don’t need that you installed wrong, you destroyed your $60-$80k+ truck.

Been great to explain that to insurance and Ford.
