'Military time' is such a US way of speaking. As far as I know, the rest of the world refers to this as the 24-hour clock.

I'm so used to 24h clocks that I don't even need to convert it. My brain sometimes even translates it when it's not a time, hahaha. So when I see "19" I'll automatically think/read "7".
Although in speech, in the Netherlands, we usually *say* "7", not "19".

yeah it is day/month/year because that makes sense, i’ve never understood the other way around

I think this applies for... almost the rest of the world 😂😂

Why would pharmacies sell something else than medicines? 😂😂

I felt the same but when moving to the United States. Oh boy! How long is a mile and what the heck is Fahrenheit and for the love of my what's an ounce?! 😭
I did like the huge stores though.

Well...in Germany we say 7 and 7. We would only say 19, if we have to for understanding. Like for example. You got a doctors apointment at 4. No one would ever think of 4 a.m.
But if you would meet up with a friend tomorrow at 10...it might be 10, or 22. So you say '10 at night' or 22.
Edit: If I ever go to a place with no metric system...I would get a tattoo on my arm with the messures and a translation 🤣

To quickly find out what time 19:00 would be, you just subtract 12 from it to get 7:00. Same for other times above 12.

For me, it's pretty weird that you have to think a lot to change the "military time" to the 24 system. In Hungary, we use both equally, just as Italians. And also, I highly doubt that you will ever read this comment, but metric system is much easier and more logical than imperial, you would make your own life much easier if you learned it. I know that changing would be hard in the beggining, but it could help a lot, not just in communication, but also measuring things. 1 meter=10 decimeters=100 centimeters=1000 milimeters. And 1kilometers=1000 meters, so 1meter=0.001 kilometers. It's all about "playing with the zeros". 1 yard=3 feet=12 inches makes no sense.

Just being next door to the States here in Canada is so different in many ways… we use the metric system (Kms, metres, etc), and 24 hour time is pretty common.

😂 Spain same thing, I also always used to get my ears pierced at the Spanish pharmacy too 😂😂😂😂❤

And if that helps, one meter is about a slightly bigger step for an adult

For military time, just subtract 12 from the time... for example, if it is 19:00, do 19-12 which equals 7:00.

One thing that really helps with the whole Imperial/Metric sistem problem is quick conversions! 1 meter is around 1 yard, 1 ft equals approximately 30 cm and 1 inch is 2, 5 cm, so you can just break down cm in multiples of 5 or 6 and you're good to go!

To me American dates mess me up like here in NI it will be 27/8/22 but in America it’s 8/27/22!

To be fair dates should go whether up or down, meaning DD/MM/YY or YY/MM/DD. The American way with everything mixed makes absolutely no sense

Lol #2 and #3
Decades ago. American pharmacies were not the way CVS and Walgreens are now. Even up to a certain point, those stores didn't offer as much as they do now. Pharmacies were small town things, usually, maybe with pricey greeting cards and little pricey gifts. I'm trying to remember if they would have even had household cleaners. They had facial & body products, but again, pricey.

When I worked in Manhattan, on pay day we'd splurge on hair care, facial care, cosmetics at Duane Reade. It was a ritual lol. I.miss those days

We actually have stores similar to us pharmacies. They're home cleaning and personal care shops. You can sometimes find over the counter supplements, cleaning products, drugstore makeup, personal hygiene stuff and at some places even cards. Your best bet would probably be to go to a Chinese warehouse store though. They sell practically anything.

The thing that gets me, even as an American myself, is the referring to the 24-hour time notation as military time
