The sick days gonna cry.

My mom got fired from her job for getting sick and needing surgery.

How dare she not work for a whole week, maybe two.

If you are sick you are sick! That is a human right, to be able to recover!

My cousin got kicked out of college because she went into labor and needed an emergency c-section, the hospital kept her for 4 days but that exceeded the amount of “sick days” the school allowed each term, and because she got kicked out she couldn’t apply for another student loan.

It’s kinda sad that it’s normal in some countries that the amount of time you can call in sick is limited. I’m really glad I can just listen to my body and call in sick.

The concept of sick days is crazy to every european! In germany you get 6 weeks payed your full salary (for each sickness. So if you break a bone you get 6 weeks and if you're sick again that same year, you get another) and after that your health care provider pays up to 60%. If your children are sick, you have 10 sick days per parent and you also get the 60%

Last year, I had pneumonia, a double ear infection, and a fever of 102 F. My lips were peeling because I couldn't swallow water. Walked into work to show my boss. Know what they said? "Well, just don't work up front where the customers can see you." And my experience isn't crazy. This is a completely normal thing for Americans.

Interesting, I thought most of these also apply to the whole of Europe. But the wine definitely is an exception, in the Netherlands you'll get a fine for drinking alcoholics in public. 😂

Making me want to move to Italy. The awkward “thanks” after the coffee bit made me smile

You gave me a culture shock when in the last scene you interpret an Italian character with a bottle of wine with a screw cap. It is very rare here in the traditional wine producing countries (France, Italy and Spain). It is much more a "new world" thing. In Europe maybe a few white wines of Germany or Hungary. But for red wine it is even more uncommon.

America is insane. I’m a huge fan of ice hockey and I always wondered why people would get extremely upset whenever a player took sick leave.
Y’all just aren’t allowed to be sick, that in itself is sick. I’m sorry you guys

I still remember getting fired at age 18 for being sick, not knowing that is illegal. I felt so guilty and got in so much trouble with my despot father 😥

My brother was an exchange student in america, when we visited (we are dutch btw) i was soo shocked how many people just wore their sleepwear or just a legging and a sweater to school or getting groceries or lunch😱. Its comfy, good for them. But i just couldnt 🙈

Most people in America don’t have sick days. My employer didn’t even want to give me four weeks off after giving birth.
