Terminology: I believe what you are calling a 'gun-belt' is actually a 'money-belt' or 'hidden pocket belt' or some combination of those terms. What I have been taught to call a 'gun-belt' is a heavy leather (often steel lined) belt which resists sagging under the weight of an attached gun. If your belt (with a gun attached) sags it slows your draw: because in the process of drawing you have to not only lift the sag but also the reverse of the sag before the belt tightens enough to resist the friction of the draw and thus cause the gun to break free of the holster.

At the Dollar store that I go to all the time, the replacement propane tanks are kept in a locked cage outside. One morning, a man wanted to swap an empty cylinder for a full one. But the key to the master lock (4 pin POS) couldn't be located. I told the manager that I could probably open it. Her only concern was that the lock wouldn't be damaged. I told her I would get it open...or not, but the lock would be fine either way. She said, "Try". I had it open in less than a minute. Everyone should get some picks and practice, it's a valuable skill.

Never go on a Tinder date without a spare hand cuff key.

I used to wear a 2-ply leather belt with the slice in the back. Among other things I carried a handcuff key with 10 inches of Kevlar string tied to it. the Kevlar string had no problem cutting through zip-ties. I left a knotted end of the string hanging just slightly out of the belt slot for easy access. A 2-ply leather belt can also make a very good improvised horizontal knife sheath.

One very important suggestion: Carry not one, but TWO handcuff keys - one concealed in the very back of the belt, and one as close to the buckle as possible. You never know whether your hands will be cuffed in the front or in the back, and a single key on the wrong side of your body will be useless. Same with a single-edge razor blade, in case your hands are tied instead of handcuffed.

I bought this belt a year and a half ago. I loved it so much that when I lost a lot of weight I bought another one to fit. It is extremely high quality. You won't find a better belt anywhere. Stay safe!

The last airport scanner I walked through at the airport found my plastic hair comb I had forgotten to put in the tray.. With all the metal being carried in that belt I find it hard to believe you flew all over the world with it on.

You: “Here’s $100 to back off leave me alone.”
Mugger: “No thanks, give me the whole belt.”

Jason. The information you give is really great. I don't know if you've already done this but, My ask is if you can do a video on the use of everyday items that can be used for self defense? Such as a belt, a key, a high heel shoe, a pen. I think you get the idea. Thanks.

Jason I prefer my Kore reinforced ratchet belt -- because it fits like a glove when you ratchet it on and it supports whichever of my guns I carry that day. Makes big difference.

I found out why it’s a good idea to have cash a few weeks ago. My motorcycle broke down in a bad area of the city and a homeless guy happened to have a battery charger in his bag (hey, I didn’t ask any questions) and all he wanted was for me to buy him breakfast at the gas station I was broke down at…only about $5. The whole thing was sketchy and I was glad I was carrying and even more glad I didn’t have to use my CCW but I didn’t have any cash so I had to use the ATM machine…would have been better if I didn’t need to make the extra stop at the ATM in a sketchy area. The guy that helped me told me he had gotten shot that night which made me glad when I got my bike going again and was able to beat it out of the area.

MY MAN!!!!
The $100 bill trick is my favorite survival strategy. I live in New Orleans. I have lived a fairly sketchy life and been in some "moderate to high stress situations" a few times (AKA The Sh!t was going down). I have hung with 1% bikers and OG gangbangers of all types and colors. I have NEVER been anywhere where a C-note won't buy back your life...at least temporarily. Even if somebody is coming after you because you legit owe them illegal money (gambling, drugs, whatever), a Benjamin will buy you one more day.
I keep a money clip with a Hundred and then whatever else loose cash. I keep my license and bank card together in the clip, DL on top. That way if anyone insists, I can politely ask to keep the DL and palm the bank card with it. Then I hand off the entire clip because it is shiny and people like shiny things and money.
Cheaper than a gun, and 100% reduces the chance I shoot my own damn self in the leg, get in legal trouble for overreacting, actually have to be responsible for burying some poor mother's child, or lose the gun to the streets.

I like how you brought up two make shift tools for opening handcuffs then pulled out a handcuff key right afterwards.

That's Awesome! Great idea about cash and the quarter ounce gold coin. I still remember that Bond movie "From Russia with Love" where James Bond had a briefcase that concealed gold sovereign coins. Those are about a quarter ounce!

Great video. The GTFO escape bracelet with handcuff key is ideal to wear and possibly even have another one in the belt too, just in case). Very cheap and very practical.

How do you get something out of the belt while wearing it, or without making a big deal about it? Or making a scene?
