I am encouraging my 26 old son to get into plumbing. he works at a call center and it really provides no future, no security and no job satisfaction.

Loved this talk (and the music). I’m 17 trying to figure out what I’m gonna do with my life with only 4 months of high school left. I’ve been thinking about plumbing and construction. So glad I found this video. Love to see someone so passionate about their work. Keep up the great content brother. 👍🏻

I am currently in college in southern Maryland studying history education, and I plan to spend the next year working as a teacher, but I am nervous about being happy as a teacher because of the beauracracy, constantly taking work home with me, and not actually working at my own hands-on skill sets. I was pressured into college because everyone around me noticed my exceptional academic skill and the ease with which I learn things. But what really satisfies me in my spare time is all hands on, building furniture, carving wood, building things from acrylic, etc. Plumbing sounds like a great choice for me and a truly stable career in which I can depend upon my own skill set and knowledge to secure my future. I’m 21 and I’m just beginning my research on getting into plumbing, and if I find that teaching isn’t right for me like I think, I’m think I’m going to apply for union apprenticeships in my area. Union sounds more secure and reliable as you said. Is there anything I can do in the meantime to build up my knowledge and preparation for that leap into an apprenticeship?

I want to get into plumbing but I have no idea where to start. My biggest concern would be choosing a bad company to apprentice with. I'm a stickler for mastering any skill I learn and know I'd be dissatisfied with a subpar training program. My ultimate goal is to own a small company doing residential work.

I started off at minimum wage, and was treated horribly and abused for a few years. The apprenticeship left me spiritually broken and an alcoholic, but I make the money now. The Apprenticeship won't be easy depending on where you go. Just be aware that this isn't like most jobs where you just punch the clock. There will be times where you may be out all night, and need to work another shift / allnighter. I lost my left eye on my first year, and the employer refused to pay overtime though we worked 80 hours a week. Very common with allot of shops out there. It's considered a last-chance career, and the people you will meet will reflect that statement. Just be sure to get on with a shop with good plumbers. The first four years are very important to learn everything.

I still have a scar from the bucket when my Plumber sent the escalator bucket into me because I took too long checking out debri in a ditch to ensure it wasn't conduit. I ended up with a broken rib and injury but had to keep working.

I’ve started an apprenticeship recently remodeling bathrooms. I’m thinking of transferring to the service plumbing department because it’s not all plumbing. However, id really like to get into new construction but we don’t do that at the company I am at. So I figure I will transfer to service and learn what I can until I get my license. I appreciate your videos. Keep them coming.

Do you need to take classes at a trade school to get an apprenticeship? Ive searched for apprentice positions and virtually all job postings for new apprenticeships say they require 2 years of experience. How do you get experience if entry level jobs require them? Ive seen people say you dont need to take classes to get on, but all the job ads say you do.

I'm 19 and on my second year of college. I'm not happy with the direction I'm going and have been looking into learning a trade like plumbing or electron. I would'nt say I have any experience but I have been working for freelance handy men sense I was 16 and ran my own lawncare businesss for a couple years. I just started watching your videos and have been really enjoying them. I would appreciate any advice or ideas you have for me. Thank you.

Hi Roger, how are you ? So, I'm from Brazil. As you might know in Brazil we speak Portuguese as the first language. I would like to become a plumber but I would like to learn it abroad. Firstly, I'm trying to learn English for doing that. I found your channel right now it's so interesting. Thanks

Hi Roger Wakefield! I'm a 33 year living in CA. Have zero experience in plumbing and don't know how I should go about getting into the field. What would your suggestion be?

Well… if plumbing is like HVAC you first need experience before you get your first job. How do you get experience before your first job? That’s the riddle.

I hear all the time “there is a shortage of trades people” yet college enrollment is down so fewer people are not going to college which means there’s more of a pool for the trades to gather. So if there is a shortage I’d bet it’s because of the above riddle.

Hey man i actually live in Plano, North of dallas. Im 22 and have been struggling to finish school while working full time. My uncle is a master plumber in Maryland and another is on the board of plumbing licenses in Virginia, so ive decided to take on the trade as i was going to start a business anyways! If you have any companys looking for apprentices in the area any recommendations would be much appreciated!

I’m 15 and your Channel in the last 2 months has taught me a lot about plumbing and other skilled trades and how the system works and what the pay scale is like. I really want to go into plumbing once I graduate high school. I have zero interest in attending college because the debt, and I would hate to have an office job. Any suggestions on how I would be able to get a plumbing job once I graduate?
