I was thrilled to see this yoyo quilt. I've been making yoyo quilts for 40 (gasp!) Years! I make them in traditional designs like Trip Aound the World, log cabin, Irish chain, etc. One of my latest quilts was a Thimble and Blossoms Sweet Escape log cabin design done in smaller yoyos that totaled 6400 yoyos. When I see quilts, I see them in yoyos. I have yet to make a machine quilt, but its on my goals list for 2024. I really enjoy your videos as I gather the knowledge to give machine quilting a go. Thanks for sharing your insights!

This quilt is beautiful. Growing up helping my grandmother quilt, I learned a lot about not wasting any fabric, including old jeans and other clothes. We used what we had, and as long as it held together and kept us warm, we didn't care about how the stitches looked in the back, as long as they were good and tight. The warmest quilt I have is an old vintage blue jean quilt from my Mom's and Uncles's leftover blue jeans. I have used it for almost 50 years. I quilt as well and currently making yo yo's out of scraps. I hope it turns out as beautiful as the one you showed. Thanks for sharing this beautiful quilt..

Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful quilt. I think one additional lesson to learn from this one is the old lesson of "How do you eat an elephant?" - Answer=One bite at a time. When faced with a large project don't think "I have to make at least 1400 yo-yos to get this quilt done". Instead just start on your first yo-yo and keep going.

I like the person who made put it together and didn't care of the same fabrics were side by side. These are the quilts I really love. Thank you for show casing it for us.

HI Kris,
Your yoyo quilt inspired me to make my own big yoyo. I used 1 inch yoyo's about 3600 of them all hand sewing. I selected colors, purples, greens, brown, some pink, orage and reds. Sewed 4 triangles to really mix fabrics and colors and the srwed the triangles together. It took me just two months to make.

I have my grandmothers that she and I made together and it’s one of my most treasured possession 💗 I’ll have to take a closer took at it and examine the fabrics and small details you pointed out in yours. Thank you for this video.

I think it would be a perfect quilt for California. Just something to sleep under but have ventilation if it is hot.

I always learn something from these videos - this time it was yo-yos. I had never heard of them before. Pretty amazing quilt too. I love the ones where you can really see the creativity and effort the maker put in. Thanks for sharing this!

My mom had a boyfriend in late 60s and his mom was spooky.at times when she would watch us she would give us things to do
Like color code buttons
And she had me cut out squares..One day she made a quilt and in the middle was a button to match
Maybe that's where i started liking sewing..hummm
Just thought of that now
