IPCC shows Climate Change hurting us... Today

The latest Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report just dropped and it makes for bleak reading. Called the IPCC AR6 WGII, it uncovers just how much climate change is already harming us, and the limits of what we can adapt to. But as desperate as this is, this IPCC report is clear... we still have everything to fight for in the battle against global warming.

there's a lot to take in here. let's be kind to each other - and ourselves - in the comments 💚

The cost of dealing with the impact of Climate Change will be much greater than the cost of dealing with the cause.

Struggling with climate anxiety (and war anxiety!) right now. Thanks for the clear and hopeful explanation Adam...

Thanks for emphasising what we can DO about these scary climate impacts Adam. Despite the bleak findings of the report, we've all got a responsibility to make that beautiful future you talk about...

I find the financial limits especially frustrating. Yes, many solutions cost a lot of money and will require a lot of effort to ensure citizens don’t end up homeless when their industry shuts down…but that’s why we should be pushing for more action now!

That way we have more time to do the transition properly.

Question for you: I had no idea the second part had come out, despite eagerly anticipating it. I think this is because all news outlets have been focusing on Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Of course that is extremely important, and deserves the attention of the media, but I wonder: Is there a risk of this overshadowing the IPCC report and, if so, what could the impact of this be?

And to conclude, I am a MASSIVE fan! I credit you as being one of the main voices which helped me recontextualise climate change in my head and not succumbing to a "well, all is lost" mentality. Thank you for that <3

Of course the extremes of poverty and wealth is the biggest cause of human suffering as much or if not more then climate change. When the top 10% have 90% of all the wealth that's when people problems arise real problems every second of every day. We fight for the crumbs and try to find happiness with the crumbs. The 1st world governments and oligarchs should be held accountable for the misery they have caused. People delude themselves and distract themselves with the stupidity of celebrity and don't get properly educated.

I’m so thankful about these reports, very much needed, thanks for sharing.
I was suffering a lot of anxiety about this when unemployed (and I just finished studying biology) during the pandemic and today work and money is just distracting me from this, THIS is so very important for me and I just needed it.
We need to destroy the systems that are killing us, I see now that they can’t “change” or “become sustainable”. I know it sounds extreme to destroy the systems and the worlds economy but we are in an extreme situation, it already is a matter of life or death for a lot of people, including me and my loved ones.

I'm struggling with serious climate anxiety. myself and my wife have been together for 17 years and are finally after years of saving in a position to afford IVF to start our family, only thing is I'm terrified of what we could be bringing them in to and if its even right to bring more children into the world the way it is and the future that could be without action. my family think I'm crazy to be thinking this way and my Wife says its my decision as i'll be carrying the baby. as a side note I live in Ireland and adoption here is incredibly hard to do and inter country adoption is even harder and beyond our finances. as for fostering I'm not sure we could go through raising and potentially having to hand back a child. has anyone else considered or decided not to have children based on climate change?

I know this vid might look and sound a lil different to usual. this is what happens when you make a video in 24 hours while on holiday!

I admire your optimism, the problem is though that there is little hope of optimism and little hope left as climate change takes on an exponential trend.

A successful economy can only thrive with growth. 6% growth generates 6% climate change. Greater climate chaos indicates healthy economies. Not a good sign.

I enjoyed seeing the word "narrative" used, and how important "narratives" are in convincing people of the crisis, and how differing "narratives" may conflict, but oh well, lols.

Weather and climate engineering, sort how much that is harming us, seven decades do the math.

Hello! Thank you for this great video. I would like to read some chapters of this report but they all seem to have this annoying watermark behind each page saying "Accepted version, subject to final edits". Is there a place where I can get this report without this watermark so I can actually read it?

Thank you so much, Adam. You helped my anxiety doom spiral with this thoughtful video. Remembering to breathe and that we can accomplish a lot if we unite. I am certain there are more humans who care deeply about the climate crisis than who do not. Would be interested to see your prioritized list of actions civilians might take to both lessen emissions and prepare for changes? Also, love the nails! Thank you again. 🙏💖

Great breakdown Adam, super clear and informative! The points about climate consequences being in the here and now and how we all have a role to play are important but perhaps the most important is that we can still choose to build a better future. You're absolutely right - Catastrophe is not inevitable. Thank you for for your communication efforts!
