Auron looks awesome, his story is intriguing and interesting, he's badass.
They hit gold with his creatin!

For me, this is the most iconic scene in FFX. There's no way anyone who's ever played FFX could forget *this* re-entrance for Auron.

I found him so cool in this cutscene to the point where I would mimick him in real life. I would go outside wearing shades and a jacket so I can hang my left hand in the same way, then I would carry around an umbrella as my sword. I'd walk the same way he does too. The good ol days of early 2000s. lol

I love how everybody's running past him for their lives while he just calmly stands there lol. What a boss.

Auron is just plain and simply, cool. His design, his demeanor, his weapons and fighting style. To me he's like the Dante of Final Fantasy (and I swear that's not just because of the lengthy red coat and comically oversized sword). I was first introduced to him during my inaugural run of Kingdom Hearts 2 when I was 12 when Hades summoned Auron to do his bidding and Auron stopped just short of telling him to piss off. From that point on I was hellbent on finding out where Auron originated from which lead to my subsequent experience with Final Fantasy X.
