Wait. I thought if you replace or upgrade the internal drive of the Xbox 1/Xbox 1 X you couldn't reinstall the OS like how you could with the PS4/PS4 Pro?
Honestly, the way they designed the Xbox 1 is totally anti-consumer. They should've learned from what Sony did with the PS3 and then again with the PS4 how they let you replace/upgrade the HDD yourself and reinstall the OS without voiding the warranty or potentially breaking something.

For y'all saying "use an external drive" this doesnt work if the internal hard drive is broken like in my case so you have to open the console and replace the damn disk

why would changing the HDD to an SSD get you banned from Xbox live? I can understand the warranty thing but I can basically fix anything in the Xbox always have so can someone tell me why having an SSD would get you banned?

Get the F outta here. I am not gonna do all that to a $500 machine. Microsoft simplified a lot of things, great build, UI. But Damn...Ps4 was easy. PS4 Pro is easier. That sucks it's complicated as I would have purchased more digital games if I upgraded. And no I don't like using External hard drives. I love my Xbox One X though...sad it's this complicated.

Use disc cloning to clone the original disk to your new disk or SSD.. You will not get banned if you do this.. And you download the firmware from some 3rd party source you may have to face some problems!!

It literally took me 2 minutes to replace my PS4 drive. This on the other hand looks like it would take 45 minutes with a lot of delicate patience.
