I'm 17, and my dream right now is to be able to learn how to figure skate. I cannot start this year due to my university exam preparations taking 90% of my time, but I'm hoping to start my lessons next year. I'm so happy that I found your videos because even though I can't really take lessons right now, your videos being so good at informing and letting me know about the most important things make me feel like I'm being prepared. You have a great way of explaining things and I'm incredibly grateful that I found your channel. Thank you for doing this <3

Thank you so much, you saved my life. I was going to get skates online because my nearest shop is an hour away but this had convinced me to go to the shop. I’m only a beginner so this helped out ALOT thank you so much!

Can’t wait for the how to tie post. Got my Jackson Altima over a month ago and still find my foot slides forward in one after skating an hour. I never know if I put them on correctly. I have never been shown even tho I get lessons and was measured for them at the skate school. Seems nothing ice skating wise is easy where I live in Australia 😣

Thank you for this very good advice. Luckily I got my 1st skates at a professional store nearby and they took 2h to find the right boot for me and also balanced and sharpened them nicely 🙏🏻🥰🥰

Well, guess I better find where I can take my skates to have them sharpened. 🤣 (no skate shops near me, the only ice rink near is usually the temporary one during December) I got myself a cheap pair of skates so I’m not constantly renting them since I skate a lot while the temporary rinks are up.

Just as I bought skates thinking it was a perfect fit I immediately find out they're too big for me😭

As someone who got to excited and bought my skates without intensive research, I really need this.
Now to find someone who can sharpen my skates… which will be really difficult for someone in Louisiana 😭

I always dreamed about being a figure skater ever since I saw some video about figure skating, I was nine back then and I told my aunty about it (she's taling care of me) she promised to enroll me when I told her about it but woohoo, it's been 5 years and still waiting. I'm currently saving my allowance to buy myself a good figure skating shoes and I'll be the one to teach myself. Thank you for the tips btw!

I’m 12 years old 5’5 and a size 8-8.5 in normal shoes and I’ve skated before and my birthday was last week and I’m having a ice skating party this Saturday and I just got skates from Amazon and they came today I got them in a size 9 and I feel like they fit perfectly but I am also wearing a thicker sock they are Ugg ones and they are super soft and walking around in the skates feels good they don’t feel tight but they also don’t feel loose I feel like they are just perfect I tried bending my toes in them and I can bend them just barley but they feel good.

I’m in north New Jersey and bought skates too big so before I skated more I wanted to get the right size so I looked for reputable skate shops and went to 3 different ones and the only options were Jackson and I felt like they weren’t considering all factors you brought up. I saw your located near me, where would you recommend to go?

Hi! I've been figure skating for over 100hours now and have been loving it, like doing 3turns, waltzjumps, crossovers, and backward skating but im still on rentals and would want to order edeas overseas since there are no pro shops near by here, I have foot measurements of 283mm by 115mm, at 5ft11inches 68kg. I'm aiming to get the height of my waltz jump and would want to easily progress to double jumps, is 285C edea overtures the right size for me?
Thanks 😊

I got fitted at the pro shop of my ice rink. They told me I was size 6. I tried them on and my toes where so close that hurt. He explained me that my toes must be close to the skate. I asked for 6.5 which is also my regular number en any shoes! I can’t wear 6 or 7 all the time 6.5… I felt the skate 6.5 was perfect a little of room but not annoying I tried the 7 also but way big for me… I did what you suggest with the insole and I have 1 centimeter showing in front of the insole… so I think I got the right size 😁

I live in Louisiana so I have no where to go to sharpen my skates. What in the world should I do? Buy my own sharpener?

I just got a new pair of skates. I went to a pro shop but I'm scared that my skates don't fit properly because the man at the shop didn't really tell me what it should feel like. I went skating on them for about 5ish hours now and I'm starting to think that they don't fit properly. What should I do?

Heyyy sorry Im late to this video as Ive just found your channel! I am 12 and I have been interested in getting some ice skates but there are no shops near my area😭 So I will have no other option to buy online! I am getting the jackson mystiques as I am a begginer 😅I was wondering if I just get them from the jackson website? And will the skate size be the same as the size of the rental skates I tried on? Thank you for this amazing video :)

how bad is it to skate on an outdoor rink (maintained by a zamboni) and stepping on the rubber mats there without a hard blade guard? would you need to sharpen your blades before getting on an indoor rink or is there some leeway?

P.S. thanks for the videos, they’re super helpful

i feel kind of guilty about having to buy new skates if i plan on learning figure skating because i feel like i haven't used my current skates that much (i skate maybe once a year max just for fun) but i already know that they're not good enough for it lol my feet and ankles hurt from using them after only like half an hour... they were only for recreative purposes so it was fine (though the pain sucked), not gonna spend a ton of money on something i only do super rarely, but still, skates are expensive
