TwoWire Interface / Power And Data Over The Same Twisted Pair

This video will describe how to power a Microcontroller/Sensor circuit over a twisted pair cable and have data return over the same twisted pair. Any microcontroller circuit can be modified with a few extra components to enable this feature.

Very cool circuit, thanks for presenting it. I suspect that you don't want to go too high on the pulse duty cycle otherwise the voltage to the uC might sag.

That's really great Ken. Another very interesting video. I really like that application - very simple yet very effective. I also liked the photo of winter there - wow. Winter here is only 3 weeks long, and it means you have to wear a sweater at night, but t-shirt is fine during the day. Very different!

How long can you run the twisted pair?

I've been looking for something like this! Is it possible to do something like this where an arduino is the one checking for signals on the twisted pair, and the devices on the pair are the ones with the sensors, and each device has an address that is set so that the microcontroller knows which exact device has new data?

for such application it looks good, but most likely you'll want to update it in future and then you have a problem.
I would use two cheap Microcontrollers like Arduino or AVR itself, connected via LAN cable (2 lines data and rest for power) and transfer data over RS485.
This way you are very flexible on sending commands and doing watever you want on both sides.

This really isnt anything new, uhm, 1 wire protocol... its cool you did it for you and got it working, but I also remember two way full duplex audio and power across 2 wires, oh year basic telephone
