In the beginning you sound like you are standing a meter or more from the microphone. You might want to consider setting up a mic boost in the system, or playin around with Audacity or similar software to boost sound levels.

Nail clippers are a great idea. I use been using some pound shop brushes for a while. Lasted me well over a year so far. Do the job for you average hobbyist for sure!

I have those paintbrushes, really nice set to use.

That brush set you have I picked up a set similar to those some time back . The problem I had with them was the tips curled first and second time of use . And I am particular about my brush care . The makeup brushes, Oh yes those are great for dry brushing . Clippers I have my electronic set Ive been using for the last 25 30 years . Razor blades I always scan the clearance isles at the big stores . They sometimes dump a bunch in bulk for a low price . I dont know what you have for stores there . But bulk brushes for crafting sometimes at the craft department . Candle isles you can get colored sands if you don't feel up to running out and sifting play sand for the sandbox, Also pet stores in the reptile department, bags of rock, pebbles Etc. . Chalk for pigment powders . Overall though the Dollar Stores are your best friend .
