THE $1299 price is good but it hurts to have to pay another $400 to get decent specs - 16GB/512GB. The markup on those upgrades is excessive in my opinion. if each were $100 it would be more reasonable and still highly profitable for Apple!

Just ordered one for college. Screen size >>> extra cores in the mbp. Battery and performance should be more than enough for an academic setting.

I ordered the 16/512 model for my wife to replace her 2018 15" MBP. She still wants a big screen, but doesn't need a power or high price of the MBP. Love the lower weight also!. $1, 800 out the door with tax! I think that's a great deal.

I see the 14.2” 16/512 at $1749.99 at amazon and the 15.3” MacBook Air also 16/512 for $1699, so for video editing and heavy work, the HDR and ProMotion and faster M2 Pro chip, and two fans, the extra $50 is well worth it.
Moving up to 1 TB is better deal. $1899 for new Air and same price at amazon
for the Pro or Air. Max was talking about disappointment about the battery life, but he forgets that the bigger display is going to draw more power. Bigger battery as well, they cancel each other out. Also bigger chassis, and you might hope better thermals, but the 13" didn't heat up the whole case and the 15.3 with bigger backlighting area, may make things hotter, so maybe that will be worse, heat in lid not in bottom where the keyboard and trackpad and SoC are. I'm sure we will find out soon.

The reason this new product exists is that people wanted a larger screen. Apple delivered. Nothing else is important. Don't look for anything with big performance changes until 3 nm technology next year.

I’m hoping it has a better heat sink. Either way, I look forward to Vadim & Max’s test thermal testing with & without modding it wit heat pads

8GB of RAM is still not great if you’re doing multiple things at once (especially web). So that base price isn’t realistic for many people. I just spec’d one out for $2, 100.

still happy with my MBA M1 which i got on the 4th of January of this year.
after 5 months my battery health is at 98% with 81 battery cycles.
i have the base model btw!!
the MBA M1 is great for daily use and if you are a student.

battery is quite bigger on 15 inch macbook air as it is 66.5-watt-hour lithium-polymer battery compared to 52.6-watt-hour lithium-polymer battery of 13 inch macbook air.
