In this sixtieth video in the new series on G.W.F. Hegel's great early work, the Phenomenology of Spirit, I read and comment on paragraph 153 and 154 of the text, continuing our study of the third portion of the section "Consciousness," i.e "Force and the Understanding: Appearance and the Supersensible World".

[further description to be added in the near future]

In this video series, I will be working through the entire Phenomenology, paragraph by paragraph -- for each one, first reading the paragraph, and then commenting on what Hegel is doing, referencing, discussing, etc. in that paragraph.

Here's another dose of Hegel, as we work our way through this important section. . .

I was recently reading a breakdown on Hegel's view of natural philosophy which explained about how Hegel viewed space and time. It's interesting that he considered space and time are logically unified back then. And it really helped me to understand what he meant by necessity here.

Few people read this paragraph (153) because they thought it's just same as previous example, but it is not... Hegel does not write two paragraphs to say the same thing

The way electricity flows depends on the theory to which one subscribes. There is electron flow theory which says electrons flow neg to pos, and conventional theory which says the opposite.
