Mainly to make sure that the line stayed safe and SECURE until the birth cause the possibility of miscarriage and SID.

It just wasn’t done back then. Lucy and Desi couldn’t even use the word pregnant when they were making their show.

At that time pregnancy was more of a private family matter. No one was ashamed of it but you did not accentuate your baby bump, you wore loose clothing that was comfortable and did not restrict or bind the womb.

Many traditions of that time. 1) no baby shower until baby born. 2) leave work as not ok to be pregnant and working. You have a baby when born and not before.

She was Queen of many countries at that time who knows who are her enemies at that time many people wanted to be in her place.

According to my grandma, women were embarrassed to show they were pregnant. Many were grateful to be pregnant during winter, when they could hide it under thick coats. Babyshowers still aren't a thing, because it's considered terribly bad luck to celebrate something ahead of time (never congratulate Austrians ahead of their birthday). My grandparents even insisted, there be nothing baby-related in the home of expecting parents until the baby had safely arrived.

It just wasn't done in those days if you were pregnant you covered up as much as possible. A different world.

Ultrasound and tests were not available then. Considered unlucky to have photos in case something went wrong with the pregnancy.

It was the 40s, 50s and 60s. No one found it news worthy to cover a woman's pregnancy. That's all. Diana came about in the paparazzi age and that's why her pregnancies drew interest.

I don't like it either when they have their stomachs sticking out. They don't seem to wear maternity dresses anymore

There is one photo, but at the time people just thought she had gained weight, she is getting off the royal train, times were very different, the Queen gave birth at Buckingham Palace and had the birth had to be witnessed

Times were different (there's nothing to be ashamed of obvs💜💜- & it's lovely that new Royal Babies or any babies are coming💜💜 - but both Princess Catherine & Princess Diana skillfully wore maternity dresses that draped + draping jackets that skim the bump & all is well💜💜Nobody wants to show off a tummy button popping out by highlighting it in llycra (you would think!) & anybody who wears wears a skin tight dress to draw attention to the bump a mystery to me - the bump is v prominent; Nobody can miss it! We see it don't worry (but when you're supposed to be RF (as some ppl WERE "supposed" to be) wearing a skintight black cocktail dress🙈💜 with completely bare shoulders (& fir goodness sakes; "Cradling" her bump with both hands🙄😌 - after butting in anyway - at an Award Ceremony she WASN'T supposed to be presenting an Award at - Nevermind "Presenting" - & stopping⚠️Gone Girl Actress Rosemary Pike from making HER speech (she just stood ro 1 side looking awkward⚠️bless her) - frnkly it's just not good💜💜Prcs Catherine occasionally involuntarily touched the bump put her hand underneath or whatever - she wasn't cradling the bump & strutting⚠️along a stage to "Prove to Hollywood she's a star"🤮🤮& the entire World can tell the difference between that & somebody Royal who's (struggling with swollen ankle, back pain & the most appalling excessive "Morning sickness but the scary kind/dehydration/more🥺💜) - & tbh; if MM wasn't strutting around with various sizes of Actual Moon Bumps⚠️then I will eat my Chanel bucket hat🙏💜🇬🇧💜

(& I love that hat💜💜)

Women wore lose fitting cloths back then, I loved my lose fitting maternity clothes.
Women today let their baby bump hang out with pride.
