After a little research, I found that the letter was written by Jacob Vowell, who was trapped in a mine in Fraterville TN, in 1902, due to an explosion. At least 216 people were killed.

My grandparents live in Northeastern Maryland. The Amish & Pennsylvania Dutch are known by other farmers and ranchers as the best barn builders around. They’re made with no nails in most cases, only wooden dowels or dovetailing. They came and built a gigantic barn for my grandparents, they brought all their equipment and everything they needed and even had the ladies there to set out the midday meal. It took 3 days to build the most beautiful barn I’ve ever seen with paddocks. ❤

I read that heart breaking letter and it made me cry . I can't even begin to imagine being trapped in a mine and watching your mates and your relatives begin taking their last breath and the realty sets in that you are not going to make it out and you have to write your goodbye letter to your wife and children . 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢

The farewell letter written by the coal miner to his wife is extremely poignant and emotionally distressing. Despite holding onto the hope of being rescued, he still found the strength to compose a letter to bid farewell to his wife and children. It must have been an incredibly challenging task to write a letter while facing the possibility of death.

Whoa! That letter was gut wrenching! Telling his wife to live right so she can come to Heaven! And then saying goodbye to his kids with maybe 25 mins of air left! God Bless those men!

Dying from suffocation or asphyxiation has to be one of the worst ways to die. Worst because air is free and all around, unless, you find yourself in a confined space. Sometimes less than a foot, if it is a concrete vault, sometimes a hundred feet underground. Usually, the cave-ins are less material. The dirt and rock is unstable, if they drill through, it has to be a hollow pipe. I think that is the reason why the boring machines were invented. It seems like the only application where they would be useful. The only time I saw a boring machine used was to get utilities across a six lane road, a $160k attempt at failure.

Fun fact, the Polish Husar's armor has metal feather on it's back to scare the enemy's horse while riding towards it. It made so much noise that the enemy's horse were confused and scared because of it, except for Polish horses that were used to it

The Letter is Heartbreaking. Who he is thinking of, while he is Literally dying, to bring comfort to, knowing these words will be his last to them. And the Amish Community Literally Raising a Barn by hand. Showing what the power of a Community when brought together in Unity and Kindness can do.
