It strikes me how living in North America means you either have no idea what a cicada brood sounds like or you are entirely familiar with what one sounds like.

I have only ever heard them on YouTube videos; I feel sure that it's different when you can't turn them off.

I love cicadas! They emerged a couple of years ago here in Maryland, so I’ve still got like 15 years to go before they emerge here again. I will then be 61 years old and you can bet your keister that I will be playing with cicadas.

Cicadas are the only insect im comfortable with. Fuck ants, fuck mosquitoes, fuck flies, fuck cockroaches, grasshoppers are chill too cept the invasive ones
