How to Change the Default Google Drive Client Synchronization Folder Location

Показать описание
If you use the Google Drive for Desktop client, then you might want to change the default file synchronization folder from the C:\Users folder to a custom folder or even a different hard drive altogether. To do so, you will need to disconnect from your account, move your files and then reconnect and reconfigure the Drive client to point to the new file location. It's a pretty easy process and you shouldn't have a problem getting things moved over.

Check out our book (Google Drive Made Easy) that was written to get the most out of the popular cloud storage service!

It's unbelievable how unintuitive the Google Drive configuration is, I had to search far too long for instructions and it was your video that was the decisive help! Thank you so much!

Thanks, Google makes it stupidly hard to transfer between Drive accounts. This is the best solution to do that

Thanks for this; I was ripping my hair out, trying to figure out why it wouldn't let me change my storage location. I was on Streaming, not mirroring.

What are the details of the default location for read and write? Is it fast? As a video editor, is it okay if my project files are in the default location, or is it better to move them to a location on my SSD?

What if I do not want to create a folder on the new drive (Drive Files), but just want the Drive to be acting as the folder itself?

Your presentation is very good. However, I got hung up after disconnecting the drive from my account. I could not access the sign -in because the tray icon was gone. I was unable to complete the rest of the steps and was forced to uninstall and reinstall Desktop Drive and start from scratch. If you could show me what I missed, I would like to do this on my laptop as well.
