Today we are doing a little kitchen witch 101.
In this video, we will be discussing what a kitchen witch does and what kitchen witchcraft is, we will look into ways to perform kitchen witchery and what you need to practice it. and throughout the video, I have some very handy hacks for beginners of kitchen witchery as well as the seasoned kitchen witches amongst us.

Kitchen witchery is an absolutely amazing, versatile, and easy form to bring magick into your daily life. It is typically a very warm, communal, nurturing, and down-to-earth way to practice magick and it is a fantastic path to try if you are broom closeted and need to keep your craft secret or outwardly invisible to others.
So what is a kitchen witch and what does kitchen witchery entail? And how do you know if you are a kitchen witch?
As the term already implies, a kitchen witch is someone that practices their witchcraft in the kitchen and weaves their magick into the food they prepare. The main forms of magick used in kitchen witchcraft are energetic magic, symbol, rune and sigil magick, folk magick, intentional cooking and magickal as well as medicinal herbalism.
Kitchen witchery defines every kind of magickal working that combines some sort of cooking, baking, or culinary mixing and witchcraft in one shape or another. You could even stretch the definition as far as to include magickal crafting or work that is done in the kitchen to that as well. A lot of times topics surrounding interpersonal relationships like love, friendship, and communication. physical health or healing and mental health or healing, like anti-anxiety, depression, or sleeping spells are targeted when working magick into food.
Kitchen witchery goes fantastically with hearth witchcraft or cottage witchcraft. if you are a natural homemaker and can also be enriched by combining it with green witchcraft and your homegrown or wild foraged herbs. Now it would obviously help if you enjoyed baking and cooking - But it is absolutely possible to become a kitchen witch if you don’t have much experience with baking or cooking yet – after all, we are all build to learn and evolve our skills. Kitchen witchery can be done regardless of any dietary preferences or restrictions and can be made to fit your personal needs.

Just recently realized I and my husband are kitchen witches. How we did not realize for so long is mind-boggling! He is a chef, and I absolutely love cooking and fully believe that feeding others is feeding the soul. We naturally were doing magic in the kitchen without even realizing it. Then one day my father built us a beautiful prep table and we placed a statue of Dionysus on it, and suddenly I said to my husband: "...This is our altar.... This is our altar!"
I have another altar in our bedroom I had considered our main house altar, but we realized that no, our central altar was here, in our kitchen. And since we began thinking of that table as our altar, we have been much better at keeping the kitchen cleaned up and organized. It's still a work in progress (our kitchen is a very small apartment kitchen and we like our manual tools) but we are very happy to have truly begun the journey we were always meant to take.

I love cooking! I always have. My grandmother cooked and baked for so many people, and I often wonder if she was som form of a kitchen witch.

Also, I’ve had issues with eating disorders. I wondered today if I need to stop trying to kick food out of my life, which results in disorders… and just embrace food. If I take my time to prepare the food, to infuse it with love, to cook for others, maybe my issues with food will dissipate. That’s usually how it works: instead of shoving things into a corner, bring it into the sunlight and see what happens.

I am very new to witchcraft. I'm researching for the first time this last week. I was drawn after learning several personal rituals I have with my grandfather who has passed are very similar to the practices of some witches. Those things bring me so much comfort and growth. And the idea of bringing those same concepts into other areas of my life is appealing to me.

And I've been drawn to the food side of things. I have had a strong history of using food as a weapon against myself. Overeating to cause harm. But the acts of mindfulness and harnessing healing energy instead of the harmful energy I have been unknowingly infusing into my food. It strongly appeals to me.
