I think the way the hitch was applying an upward angle on your rear wheels causing them to lose traction when you were trying to pull the firewood uphill was why it couldn't do it. The trailer was leaning back aiming the hitch arm up pulling your rear wheels up. I think if you could engineer a better hitch, maybe a double hinged arm, you would maintain your traction and make it up the hill with the load.

This hill climb reminds me of high school. We used to go mudding before school and I’d take my 2WD truck through mud holes with no issue, but ended up getting stuck parking it and trying to leave again in wet grass. Lmfao.
