As an airline pilot we learned the same thing: Standardization...always doing the procedure the same way every time...it also lets the other person (who does it the same way) synch with you...and mistakes STAND OUT..it also builds CONFIDENCE. Checklists can help. We normally do a "flow" which is going through the procedure in the most logical order, say from the front of the RV to the back...and then taking the checklist quickly and running through it to make sure we did it everything correctly, didn't miss anything... rather than taking the time to check it as we go...which takes more time...love your videos. I am researching now on my great ESCAPE as I have retired ...can't decide on either a van only or an Airstream or ??? Your "Zen" is greatly appreciated. :) PS Wow, I was just listening to you talk about the "Devil's Den" and wanted to see it so I google searched it and it's 29 miles from my house!!! :)lol

I just love listening and following you two! Yep, I am one of bought my RV yesterday. Yahoooo...I am 70 years old and a widow, so it's me and my dog. Am I crazy? Of course I am, but I don't want to sit in my big old house and just let life pass me by. So I appreciate all your advice and ability to laugh when things go wrong...and as you said it will go wrong. Thank you for being there with a smile and a attitude that you can survive it all and make it fun along the way. See you on the road - Linda

Aside from the wealth of tips that you provide us, I admire how each one of you can elaborate or even finish the sentence of the other with so much kindness and accuracy. You should also make videos on “communicating to your spouse effectively”. You two are good for each other.

Just an addition to the grey water discussion. The tub and dump method is an awesome saver, except in bear country it's a big no no! Bears and cougars are attracted to the smell of soapy water just as they are food waste. It was in all our literature from Banff National Park when we stayed there. Some people aren't used to bear country so just wanted to share this little tip for anyone new to those areas. I had no idea until they gave us the info and I have been in bear country many times. :) This channel is AMAZING!

Am 72 years old and just bought my first travel trailer for my dog and me. Picking it up in May and starting out for a 6 week trip around New York State. Have reservations everywhere including 2 extra weeks in October for the spectacular leaf display in the fall. Getting really excited, don’t want to wish my life away but I am ready to go.

You guys are a crack up, it's nice that you put all this good info on here for everyone. I wanted to leave something I've learned. Whenever I flush my black and grey tanks I always put some water back in them with a cap of Calgon water softener (they have it at Walmart). We've never had any smell or problems with them and the and the level indicators seem to still work. But like you guys said, you can't really count on those things. Thanks, Randy.

Backing in is a huge challenge for nubs. Put your hand on bottom of the steering wheel (6 o clock), and move your hand the direction where you want the rear of the trailer to go. I bought a brand new 35 foot TT 3 years ago and never towed a trailer, this tip helped a lot.

You guys should start a "how to be successfully married" series! Seriously! Communication was mine and my husband's biggest challenge. We were married for 26 years before we truly learned how to do it fairly successfully. It is so important! You never know how long you have on this Earthly plane. He died two years later. I will be celebrating my 30th by myself this year. But I will be doing it with a happy heart because I am forever and always Marty's wife.

A very important reason I enjoy your videos so much is how well you compliment each other regardless of the video subject. Neither of you try to talk over the other or interrupt the other, it just makes for a perfect and enjoyable duet.

Just bought our 1st travel trailer yesterday. I grew up tent trailering but my husband, NO. He was so terrified of potential wild animals ripping into the tent that he never wanted to even try camping. It took 25 years but he finally agreed to give it a try. I'm so excited to be able to share these experiences with him, or kids and new grandbabies. Thanks for the great videos. We watch them together and that leads to great discussions.

Tip to fix your gray/black water levels indicator that stop working. Fill the tank half full of cold water through the toilet next pour 3 bags of ice in toilet and of course flush so it's all in the holding tank.next drive to slosh around the ice and water. The mixture/ice will knock any debris free from sending unit . Next Drain system

Upgrading to my new RV, so I figured I would watch this video again... Great stuff, my 3-years experience I will add. 1. Your recommendations are too heavy on tools, unless you are full time. 2. Bugs are part of RV life, get good spray and roll with it. 3. Those skinny foam kid beds, replace IMMEDIATELY. 4. Bring some movies or games for the day's the weather has you stuck inside, otherwise get outside and enjoy camping. Yes, I love your start with what you can afford philosophy. 3 years, 5 people, in 21 foot bunkhouse, so many great memories, hope my bigger RV is just as much fun!!!!

My wife and I just purchased our first RV, a 27' Jayco trailer. And we took our maiden voyage this past weekend. We live in Spokane and camped in north Idaho. Just an hour from home.
Except for having to back into the site in pitch black darkness, we manged to have a great time. I found your YouTube channel quite by accident yesterday afternoon,
showed it to my wife last night and we binge watched it late into the night. Very entertaining and quite informative. I really appreciated the informative videos. I look forward to seeing more of you and your family.

Omg! This video could not have been more timely. I bought a 29' Class C three days ago for me and my dog to hit the road in. You guys gave me the inspiration and courage to chunk it all and travel the country to be a modern day Jack Kerouac. I'm outfitting the rig with cameras all around and completely inside it. Total video immersion. I hope to meet up with y'all some day. Keep a watch out for me. You are without a doubt inspiring a generation with your amazing videos. Great family and great job. You are all rock stars in my book. Tell Carson & Caleb to keep making it real and tell Tori that I love y'alls tips. Keep 'em coming. Also, I love the way you & Trish mesh so perfectly. You are one lucky man. A beautiful wife and a fantastic family. You are doing something. ---Your biggest fan, The Runaway SHark!

I was skeptical of your tips on this video till you pulled out the tire tool! My wife and I just bought our first RV Motorhome. It’s a vintage 1977 Dodge Rockwood. We found it on Marketplace with the intent of a classic restore. We drove 7 hours away to pick it up and drive back home. The seller said it would need a brake caliper replaced and it would be good to go. I loaded our Jeep with an arsenal of tools and spare parts for the repair and trip back home. I went to take the wheel off, and low and behold my truck lug wrench would not work! We ended up going to the parts store and buying a new one like you have. Thank you for this video. Subscribed.

Holy crap! I'm so impressed with the communication that you two have with one another. I love how she said if the one that's driving and towing messes up, ask.. Ok how can I help you in this situation? You know that one question could save a trip. I'm such a newbie that I'm still wondering which trailer to buy? How much is enough solar?
I know that I absolutely HATE tent camping and last summer I stayed in Pismo with a friend in their 5th wheel. We had a blast!
This video was SO helpful. Thank you both for sharing.
Much love from Central California, City of Tulare.

We have been camping now for a year, the two of you helped us so much. We didn’t want to be “that couple” when we pulled in.
