They are getting worse. Google is better on looking up the name of an announcer or getting stats. It's the deeper diving stuff that is getting way worse.

Most of the time what the search engine brings up has nothing to do with what I typed in. Which is something that keeps happening more often with each passing year.

You don't understand the true issue. Search engines are 100% worse than they were because we could search for something not associated with any product and still find an ad for something unrelated as the first couple of results and after that its still not showing exactly what is needed. I have searched things 5 or 10 years ago and find everything almost instantly. You could put quotation or perinthiseis around the main thing your search is about and it would show a more accurate result if it didnt find it the first time and usually you found what you needed. Now it doesnt matter what you put. Depending on what you search youll probably never find what youre looking for and at that point it makes you think itd be easier to find it in a book. Search engines are controlled by who pays for their stuff to be shown its not just a place to find information anymore its a place to be force fed 90% fauls information and ads

No, it is worse from the customer perspective. Less relevant search results. I have to use other search engines like Bing or DuckDuckGo to find what I'm looking for.
