I was searching for the best computer monitor in 2022 and a Ryan George video comes up.

I remember being in school for marketing around 2004, and in one class we discussed how an up-and-coming search engine called Google just might give the industry giant Yahoo a run for its money. People really liked how simple and streamlined Google was, whereas Yahoo was getting cluttered with ads and irrelevant search results.

The worst thing is when google makes it impossible to actually search for what you want because it thinks you MUST mean something else...

I always intentionally skip the ad, even if its the exact site I'm looking for, just to click on it at the top of the actual results. Gotta celebrate the little victories.

That’s hilarious that he included the “add Reddit to the end of the search” trick, because that is LITERALLY how you get at least within scrolling reach of real and helpful results.

I love that the Reddit reviews are true polar opposites.
1st result: Great product, but I don't like that the company proudly displays its child labor.
2nd result: Terrible monitor, but "I like that they provide children with jobs."

You forgot to include how the 1st 5-10 results after the ads have one or more of your keywords struck out. And how Google will be like "did you want me to show you ONLY results with ALL of the mere 5 words you typed? Those probably weren't all important right?"

This is EXACTLY how I feel when searching for a local restaurant's menu. It's usually line 6 or lower, below all of the UberEats/DoorDash/GitHub/Yelp ads that want to make you think they have a copy of the menu

Fun fact : if you actually go on the pages following the first one, the total results are normally less than 500 contrary to what Google says on the first page.
