Has The LSD Gearbox Made A Difference To My Civic Type R EP3??

Is a Limited Slip Differential a worth while addition to the Civic Type R EP3? Olly compares the gearbox before and after the change.

Olly talks about his change from a dodgy gearbox and open differential to a perfect working order gearbox with a Quaife Limited Slip Differential (LSD) and how much of an improvement it is. The UKDM Honda Civic Type R EP3 didn’t come with an LSD from the factory but the JDM EP3 did (as always, the Japanese kept all the cool stuff to themselves). By adding an aftermarket LSD into the gearbox, it greatly improves the traction and handling of the EP3 Type R over the stock configuration.

I would like to see you compare it to a standard Ep3 without an LSD or air filter. Completely standard, On Track. Back to back. And test the braking distanced. Since few people including yourself have said its not much of a difference but i would like to see what different it really is, as i have a BBK DC5 set up ready to go.

I need one for mine. In this weather it’s a nightmare even at fairly light throttle. Trying to get out of junctions quick is a horrible experience.

In your standard ep3 gearbox, when you was doing 70mph on the motorway what did you rpm sit at because mine sits at 3500rpm is that the same as your standard ep3 gearbox?

U sort of butchered it. The lsd is in the gearbox has helicoil gears inside the gearbox. It drives both front wheels 2 get around corners faster smoother. Especially if u hav double wishbone suspension on a front wheel drive & independent rear suspension like a multilink setup. Wishbone suspension with lsd. U get good negetive camber both tyres stick 2 the road. Great handling. Hope that sort of explain it.
