I'm just going to throw this out there for those who'd like something more practical in addition to just building muscle. Fast metabolisms are often just those with significantly higher NEAT. You can see this in studies even among equal weight individuals. Move more, fidget more, focus on expending energy until it becomes a habit, increase your NEAT. Don't starve yourself, your body will compensate making you more efficient, the goal here is to be superfluous, wasteful, like a lightbulb pouring out energy through heat. Cheers lads!

biochemistry professor talks non stop about the effect of sustained cold temperature on increasing the bodies nonshivering heat expenditure and therefore increasing metabolic rate. For anyone trying to lose serious amounts of weight remember whenever you feel cold you're metabolism is working really hard.

Just a thought on sleeping less - the increased "active time" (being awake) could in itself slow metabolism by chronically causing more daily energy expenditure. 🤔

Which would you consider to be more beneficial after a couple year fitness hiatus, working out/eating to regain muscle and strength (more calories), or “cutting” to lose body fat and then going for strength/size?

I’m 66 and have been restricting calories for YEARS. My metabolism is slow and I have a feeling that my test. is low. Will the gradual addition of calories over 8-10 weeks time be a good start to crank things up again??

How much could I increase my maintenance calories if I built muscle? I’m 5’3 1/2 female and 110-113lbs. My maintenance is around 1, 700 and I feel like I’m starving. My body fat is 20% and only 87lbs is muscle mass so I don’t have a ton of muscle though I’m trying to gain more.

Guys according to my apple watch my TDEE is 3400 calories, I've been eating at 2700 calories for 3 months and maintaining, feeling very confused. Should I just ignore the tracker and cut down to 2200 calories for a cut? I'm very active hitting the gym 3 times a week and constantly moving....

1500 calories is way too low they lose weight initially and then they stall, when u need 2100 - 2300 to lose weight you can't eat just 1500 long term
