Update: This farm does work in 1.21 Java, and actually quite well! follow it block by block and you're golden! just a tip I saw in the comments that ended up working quite well, do the villagers first and let them sleep in their beds for a night so that you can be sure they've linked. otherwise this is pretty nice and works well!

I added a good 6 more layers to the storage area, and have everything running into an item filter than sends the poppys into lava and sorts out the iron bars, them an auto crafter on that output thats making them into iron blocks. storing iron blocks is much more efficient as far as saving space in storage.

Currently working on the second layer. you gotta bring your patience, this takes some time to build. but seems to be well worth it :)

I built this farm with only one layer (4 modules), and i've noticed that only one of them was working (it was pretty efficient even with only one module, I was able to get about 2 full chests of iron ingots in a few hours), and the other 3 modules were not spawning any golems, so I've tried to replace the beds as it was suggested in the comments but that alone didn't do the trick, by itself was not enough to fix those modules, what I did to fix them was replace the beds, and also close the trapdoor in front of the zombie, so the villagers don't get scared and are able to sleep in the beds, let one in-game night go by without sleeping, and after that night, go up again and open again the trapdoor in front of the zombie, that way you make sure that the villagers are properly linked to the beds and it will work again. Other than those minor adjustments, the farm is very efficient and I confirm that it's working on minecraft java 1.19.2. Just in case someone needs it c:

For people who do not have certain modules working correctly: The villagers of each module must lie down in the beds for the "module" to be created. If you introduce the villagers after the zombie, they may not go to bed and the beds may not be detected as "village". They must cover the zombie completely with solid blocks (Replace slabs and trapdoors temporarily) until the 3 villagers are down. When this happens, put the slabs and trapdoors back in place and you will see a golem automatically spawn. It is not a problem with the version of Minecraft, it works perfectly in the latest ones, including pre-release 3 of 1.20.2 (currently latest version) <3

For anyone curious, this farm at max capacity (16 layers with 4 modules per layer. 64 total modules) will generate around 22, 400 iron ingots per hour.

Tip: Instead of placing all the hoppers to obtain the iron, make 1-4 hoppers going into chests, then add water at the bottom to make the iron flow into the hoppers.

leading 12 villagers and 4 zombie to 1 layer to a survival world is painful but totally worth it with just 1 layer. Huge respect

After around 3h afk with one lvl I got around 1-2 beacons of iron blocks or like 4 to 5 stacks great farm. Also just wanna say thank you for the great farms and hope I could help people like you are. I've made three iron farms nothing as easy and even as fun. So simple and nice

Very neat and clean explanation! You've even shown how to build the top floors without saying *just copy it* . I got like 60 iron ingots in like 5 mins (i put only 1) Love it! Liked ur video!

Very good design. Wasn't working at first because I put the zombies before the villagers but after I killed the zombies and put new zombies in, it worked perfectly.

If you guys are having trouble keeping the villagers affraid of the zombie and wouldn't be able to sleep. You should break those trap door out replace them with stone stabs and remove the blocks under the two stabs on either sides to let the villagers see the zombie and it worked for me. Hope this help

For anyone having problems with certain sectors. Make sure to destroy the beds in villager breeders and replace them (even if another villager occupied the bed). Worked for me, I am playing on 1.19 Paper btw.
