Patty Loveless’ song resonates more than ever. My wife passed away on January 11, 2024. It was a week after she lost consciousness, and she never awakened. I was unfortunately away at the time, but got back to the hospital. Spent the next couple of days with her. She went peacefully, and I was at her side. I have to believe that she’s in heaven waiting for me. Just can’t see it any other way. Annie, I miss you and I’m being good.

This song started playing on the radio as we pulled into the parking lot for my uncle's funeral. It was the last day of the year and my birthday. My uncle gave me a home when I needed one, took me on my first airplane trip to Florida, and was a voluntary EMT for twenty years. It didn't seem real that he could be gone. This song started to play as I was preparing to face that truth. Nothing takes away the pain, but this gave voice to feelings I was struggling with. I'm so thankful for that.

My mother passed away 27 years ago this coming Dec. of 2022. When she was fighting Cancer the year before. She was in and out of the hospital and nursing home. It didn’t matter which facility she was in, my Dad would go there after he fed the animals, got ready and ate. Than I would go directly after work and stay there an hour longer than you were suppose to. No one ever bothered me about. I lived an hour from both places and every night on my way home, a half hour into my drive. This song would come on. I would cry the whole drive home, but somehow this song was as if my mother were speaking to me. I’ve always loved this song. I felt like this song was meant for me to hear each night.😞😢
