how to VERIFY your fuel filter is the problem (don't just blindly replace it)

I hate it when people change their fuel filter and never tip it upside down to see if there was actually dirt causing your problem. If you find a lot of dirt in your filter you've just nailed your problem. In the video I show you how to verify that your fuel problem was the culprit in the diagnostics. It's easy. Hope you enjoy the video.

Thanks for posting! Lot's of negative comments. Sometimes it's not about money it's about convenience. Consider those that live in small towns that can't just drive to the nearest store and purchase a fuel filter, and has to order it. This will relieve stress on the fuel pump temporarily until one receives their purchased item. The ones that throw money at problems will never understand the problems. Keep up the great work Error Code Guy, you are helping people.

Sounds and looks like a true mechanic to me 👍. Not the ones who only know how to change parts and parts to finally find that the fuel filter was clogged again, wasting money on things that were actually working good.

If I remove my fuel filter to inspect it for gunk, it's getting replaced, period!

This is just a great video! It doesn’t matter if you rinse and reuse or if you buy brand new. This guy knows what works for him and he’s simply sharing that with us. Good job, my man!

I always have tools with me in my regular driver car. But I don't always have a fuel filter with me. Showing how to clean a clogged filter sure can save more than money and a day screwing around getting your vehicle fixed. Great Idea. Thank you. You just helped me become a even better mechanic.

Yeh Right! My Tahoe was running rough with a random miss, slow acceleration, sluggish, etc. It finally hit me between the eyes that after 400k miles it just might be the fuel filter, DUH!! I remove the filter and the contents looked like "Gritty Coffee"? It's amazing how well it runs now!!

I suddenly realized I don't reek of fuel and I'm not covered in grease so I immediately checked my fuel filter. Thanks for the great advice!

brings back memories of when i used to mess around with cars for hours then go into the kitchen to get a sandwich . The wife would say, "aren't you going to wash your hands". ? Me : "ya when i'm finished working on the car". LOL

My grandfather made practically anything he needed in his garage, so I like the wheel brush. You can stretch an air filter too. My grandfather also used a compressor to blast air filters from the reverse side and the dust would fly.

I like your wire brush / motor.
I like the way it was reused from a washing machine, and modified for wire brush. I wish more people did this and not always throw away reusable components whenever possible.

Great video. You are correct about cleaning the filter vs replacing if possible if there is a lot of crap in the gas tank.
