For those who don't have the "Change account name" option: You need to sign out of your Windows account and create a local account to be able to change the account name (Windows key + i > Accounts > Your Info > Sign in with a local account instead). Alternatively, change your name for your windows account.

I note that this is a local account - will it work if the account is a MS account

In user accounts my username is Trevor if I open C>Users> then it shows as trevo. How do I change the latter?

i dont have change your account name option, only change your account type
