Is time travel possible? Brian Cox explained time Travel. According to NASA, time travel is possible, just not in the way you might expect. Albert Einstein's theory of relativity says time and motion are relative to each other, and nothing can go faster than the speed of light, which is 186,000 miles per second. Time travel happens through what's called “time dilation.” Related topics #physics #science #universe #time #timelapse #timetravel #quantum

So that's why the clock in my car is always slow making me late for work. 😂

They’ve done experiments with planes flying around the circumference of the earth and found evidence of time dilation. It’s mad

It's so mind blowing. I'm a big fan of Brian, such an incredible human.

As speed increases, time expands...slows down.

God is outside of time... Man invented time to help out society.

Is time travel possible?
We really wanted to know if we might travel back in time. The answer to that is clearly "no".

But then lesser questions emerge.
We all travel FORWARDS in time, but maybe at different speeds.
True, this is less interesting until you ask whether we might slow time down outside our bubble area. We can speed time up outside our area, while our own timeline is slower (if we travel near the speed of light). But we can only do limited things. And only travel forwards in time.

As time is created by humans, according light is the fastest traveling thing we know...if you go faster than light you will be able to catch up in time, or "travel"
But it doesnt change things that already happen, it wont change.

So if you travel ahead (future) of the light
You just wait on the other side untill the light arrives...i guess thats whats happening with stars that already dissapeared, you could travel towards them, and see it earlier than light arrives on earth. I guess its like this.

So to me its more it will visually work, but physically nothing change on the happening, so you cant prevent or change things.

Need to find this interview ive been wondering about this for a while now, crazy to think you could go on a space journey and come back say 5 years later but everyone you left behind is dead...

An extrodanry idea that just crossed my mind... What is the actual speed of time? If time slows for moving clocks; and the Earth, the Solar System, the galaxy and the local cluster are all in motion then how fast is the time of the actual universe. Also how fast is the bubble of our universe traveling compared with any outside information?? Considering speed denotes a slowing of time is it possible that the expansion of the universe is presentationally slow by our excellerated motion and experience. Could the big bang literally be instantaneous event to a truly stationary body and we live in the nanoseconds of the explosion???? The opposite to traveling at the speed of light where you could circumnavigate the entire universe in a life time. The lifetime of the universe from a static location is but a none preserved occurrence? I have no math to back up this wild notion, but it is an odd concept!!!

yeah, the difference in time would be given
by the difference in acceleration, not speed.
as you'all point out, speed has symetrical invariance, but with acceleration, you would feel the force.

What he said is that the clock would run slow relative to us. It's a clock that measures time. It's not time itself. Relative, prevention does not make time. Time is not dependent on anything, so there is no time travel 😮🧐🙂

what element ACTS on the clock to slow it down? The fabric of time and space? Which drags around the earth, sun and galaxy? Or the speed of light relative to the still space in between galaxies.?

Interstellar travel will not be established by going along time. It will be accomplished by going through time.

Time travel to the future works on a spherical earth. Time travel to the past and future would
work on a stationary flat earth. Not saying the earth is flat. Just pointing out which model can support time travel. Spherical spinning earth = forward only. Flat stationary = both ways

Time is not relative, mater is. It is not time that slows down, it is matter. Time is universal for all of us. Clocks don't say what time is, you said it yourself "Moving clocks run slow". That means there is a universal Time variant to which you are comparing that clock to. So to travel to the future in your definition is simply to be frozen and to travel to the past would be to become older. None of these are in reality time travel.

Is it that the closer to the sound of light you travel, the slower the atoms will vibrate that explains this phenomenon?

Eg. The atoms in the clock vibrate slower, making every movement in the clock a lower. And the same for the human body. Every atom in every cell vibrate slower, every chemical and physical prosess in their body would slow down?

so do the equations say that if you "could" exceed the speed of light???, would your observable time run backwards??
