The XP DEUS 9" CONCENTRIC DD (thanks Gary ;) )

VS

MINELAB EQUINOX 800 11" DD

-First test is just an not so sienitific air test on a .5 gr,
24 Kt midevil Brooche ...
ornated with filligrain wire ...

IN plain englisch ...a darn hard relic if it comes to gold targets
The closest to flake gold i supose ...

I have 2 Equinox's and think they are great I have never used a Deus but I hear good things about that machine also. Look forward to your next test.

Minelab Equinox is a beast on small gold necklaces and small gold items.

Its not quite a fair test to be honest.. The equinox has a 2.5 inch bigger coil, meaning it already has depth advantages upfront compared to a 9 inch coil, that also would be the same if it was a real concentric coil instead of DD ;). The equinox is running multi frequency where the deus is single but oke often thats the reason where you buy a minelab for :). I bet if you will equip the deus with a 11 inch coil, a 9 inch HF (white) or the new X35 the outcome is completly different. Besides that, was the Deus correctly groundbalanced in the Gold field mode? That has some effect on depth as well..

To do a fair test the coils need to be a similar size, The xp coil was only 9ins so not really a fair test

Air testing isn't a very good way of testing depth! Bury it and you'll get very different results! Especially if it's been in the ground for any length of time.

I have both of these detectors, Both are excellent , But this test is pointless, You can't compare 11ins against 9ins ! Your Mrs will tell you that lol
