Firstly they got what they did wrong intentionally because they had to use creative ideas to add into the movie because not much was known about Cheryl’s actual life and then to make it more interesting added the extra stuff in with the character going on a date with the killer etc.

George Eliot was the pseudonym of a 19th century writer who was a woman. He’s also the only male character in this movie who isn’t a dirtbag.

And I think the story of Phil Hartman would make a good true crime film.

In line with the fake friend in the audience, the crew would not have had to cut to a commercial when the monitor fell as the show wasn't broadcast live (or at least, I highly doubt it was)

Maybe because I had already seen the documentary of Alcala but all the wrong facts and the attempt to show all men as showvenistic made it a hard watch, Kendrick is a talented actress and looks like maybe also a decent director she needs to not rely on old gimmicks to try to make a film interesting.

I understand a lot of the “creative liberties” they took (friend of victim in the audience, Cheryl’s life, & even one of the contestants warning Cheryl about Rodney) but to change things like the order of contestants, outfits everyone wore, host, & questions asked seems unnecessary as there is real life footage of these things.

If you want to make a movie about sexism, go for it, but the amount of things they overexaggerated and plainly got wrong just make it look like a joke(sexism and the story) I was really hoping for a based in fact thriller and all I got was anti-man bs

This movie didn't even have the contestants in the correct order. The killer was contestant #1 on the real show. In the movie they had him as contestant #3. And alot of nonsense was written into the movie that had little or nothing to do with the real story. Do yourself a favor and just watch the original footage on YouTube and the documentaries that have been posted about these events!
