Ive also heard the "mei" counter used a lot too. When I was in Osaka at Universal Studios and other places in both Osaka and Kyoto, I was told "nanmei-sama desuka" and I always replied with "ni-mei" since it was me and my gf entering attractions and restaurants

In Japanese there are kanji characters also for numbers, if you use kanji just use them

Japanese people usually can understand your wrong count pronunciation.
It's no problem.

hi, may i know how to pronounce futari? do we pronounce fu or hu?
