Ive also heard the "mei" counter used a lot too. When I was in Osaka at Universal Studios and other places in both Osaka and Kyoto, I was told "nanmei-sama desuka" and I always replied with "ni-mei" since it was me and my gf entering attractions and restaurants

In Japanese there are kanji characters also for numbers, if you use kanji just use them
