Hello ladies and gentlemen; I’m explaining a widespread and very common thing in the plastering industry in this quick video.
Yes, I realize it’s soupy mud.
If you have a home close to a hundred years old, it usually has at least 20 coats of primer and paints on it, as proper maintenance means painting your home every ten years.

Our unique tip for all subscribers who wish to learn how to repair your stucco, type your question into our channel, and like magic, a video will appear to explain how it’s done.

Kirk, great video as usual. Thank you.
I have a question on a similar topic, except this time it's indoors. In my garage there is some fresh drywall with a smooth finish (which I prefer), but the rest is the old 3/8" drywall (with holes) with 1/4" plaster over it. It's really gritty and covered with an ugly color paint. I was going to just paint it, but now I'm thinking about getting rid of the sandy texture and covering all the cracks, before I paint. Two major questions:
1) how should I prepare the surface? it's been painted once, I think and it may have been done in the 60's. In some spots the paint peels and I'll scrape that off, but then what (if anything) do I apply to raw plaster, and what do I apply to the painted surface?
2) what product should I use for actually smoothing out the surface? The same thing you're using here? or another product, specifically for indoors?

I'm assuming that after it dries out, it'll take a normal primer and paint?

Can I paint on top of the color finish coat if I don't like the result? If yes, do I need to do anything to the finish coat before painting it? Thank you.

Always a pleasure to watch and learn from a Master !!
One quick question...
Where do you get that tool you always use, to scoop the cement out from the bucket onto the Hawk ??
Can't find it anywhere...
Thanks!!

Hi Kirk. Learning a ton from your videos. I'm not able to find Image by LaHabra, even on their site. Would you recommend one of their other products? i.e. perma-flex, perma-finish or perma-elastic? I don't need a smooth finish like this but am needing to take some stucco down to caulk a crack and then re-stucco over it. Thanks!
