BMW added an all-electric model to its 5 series sedan lineup. The 2024 BMW i5 shares a platform with the gasoline versions of the 5 series making it a true sports sedan, minus the exhaust. The i5 comes standard with a long list of advanced safety features, powerful electric motors, decent driving range, and offers an optional hands-free driving system.

2:50 It looks like the license plate fell off the front grill and got stuck back on below. Also $91k for 240mi range does not compute

For the price ACC should be standard, not an option.

On the iDrive screen, on the left, you missed the buttons that say Vehicle and Infotainment. Press Vehicle, and the only icons you will see are for car settings. Infotainment, you only see music and video icons. Sport mode changes how the car drives and handles. The steering is firmer as is the suspension. Also, if you want to heat the steering wheel, say, ‘Hey, BMW, turn on the steering wheel heating’. No hands needed for any of the controls. I’ve had my i5 M60 for 2 months. I spent some time in the car with every setting. The car remembers every setting for each driver, so you never really go into the configuration screens ever again.

A converted gas car, that does not take advantage of BEV packaging advantages. It is therefore very compromised, 240 mile range? What is the purpose of the enormous fake grille. The huge front under hood area designed to house an engine that does not exist. BMW needs ground up BEV’s.

Great preliminary assessment. Why are most cars reviewed gray? I'm tired of seeing gray vehicles.

Look forward to the full review. I’m eyeing the eDrive40 variant such is very affordable especially for leasing which has $7500 credit.

It looks like a 2007 Mazda with a bootleg BMW grill. $91k? I hope at least it is dependable and drives good.

I think BMW got to right to create an EV variant and petrol variants on the same architecture and same body style. Now that everyone has started to sober up on EVs and realize they are not for everyone, BMW will execute their vehicle strategy far more profitably. Meanwhile Mercedes is struggling greatly as they took the opposite approach and created TVs on a separate architecture. As a result, the dealers have parking lots full of EVs no one wants and tons of petrol vehicles to sell.

In watching these, I often wonder why don't companies don't hire people from CR to consult prior to any final releases, or people like those here who are experienced & trained with not only observations etc w/ price, options, functionality but also the nuisances, such as this one, the multiple screen touches needed for some of these options seems like something that possibly could have been done differently (obvy idk that too be true & i idk if car companies do bring on people from companies like this [more on the neutral front]) but for the sake of my point, possibly if another eye outside of BMWs team were involved it may result in different outcomes when the production is ready. Basically, have you ever not been ale to solve something but the someone else just walks in and figures it out? That sort of sentiment

Sure, let's put a rectangular IP behind a round steering wheel. I noticed that whenever you want to do something on the screen, you have to lean forward and to the side quite a bit, and your eyes are entirely focused on the screen, not the road. I want to change the blower speed; let me see where it is... Crash!

Really, you guys are actually saying BMWs are reliable brand. Just because it won't break in a year doesn't make it reliable.

Wow this EV fan boy is really impressed with the $91000 interior 🙄. You could clearly see what type of agenda CR is now pushing. Are they trying to convince us that this Evie or any evis he is actually a good buy.

Sedan world is dying and paying $91000 is the most stupidest thing in world right now, My sister buying an X5 PHEV at $75k totally worth a deal ❤
