📜 **Honoring a Legacy: Joseph Harrison, A True American Hero** 🇺🇸 World War TWO

On June 12, 1977, Joseph Harrison retired from the military after an incredible 40 years and 10 months of dedicated service. A veteran of the prewar horse cavalry, Harrison transitioned into a paratrooper during World War II, where he fought with unparalleled bravery.

His service earned him the Presidential Unit Citation, the Bronze Star, and the Purple Heart, reflecting the courage and sacrifice he embodied throughout his military career.

In this video clip, Harrison recounts a harrowing moment when his battalion was overrun by a Japanese Banzai attack, a testament to the challenges and dangers he faced on the battlefield. His story is a powerful reminder of the resilience and heroism of those who serve our country.

I'm 61, dad died of a heart attack at 53 in 1979. He enlisted in 1942 at 17. Was a Marine to the day he died. I was a teenager when he died. He died a Marine. Used to watch TV WW2 what we call now reality TV, Victory at sea, so on. Never understood why, until I was older. He never talked about his service but was forever pissed at mom when she gave my oldest brother his medals to play war with. Remember, cops and robbers, cowboys and Indians, playin war? I do.
