Could One Dose of Psilocybin Change Someone’s Life for the Worse?

One of the concerns of making psilocybin legal for the treatment of depression is that if you have a preexisting mental illness the use of magic mushrooms could make symptoms far worse. Chemical dependency specialist Dr. Megan Marcum warns that while psilocybin is not physically addictive like other drugs, it’s not fair to say that you cannot become addicted to the drug. Plus, ER physician Dr. Travis Stork warns that one of the biggest issues with the use of illicit drugs is that you have absolutely no idea what you’re getting.

About The Doctors:
The Doctors is an Emmy award-winning daytime talk show hosted by ER physician Dr. Travis Stork and co-hosted by plastic surgeon Dr. Andrew Ordon, along with dermatologist Dr. Sonia Batra, OB-GYN Dr. Nita Landry, and neuropsychologist Dr. Judy Ho.

She mentioned hallucinations as if that’s some bad side effect of shrooms. That’s literally apart of the mushroom experience

Psychedelics dissolved 10years of my depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts in 10 minutes for me.
When I opened my eyes I came back as a different me.
All trauma has been dissolved before my very eyes.
I understood what love and understanding truly meant and 9 months on, I've never experienced any of the depression and anxiety that plagued my existence beforehand.
I saw every path that everyone had ever taken and why.
It is the most profound experience of my life. Just my experience.

I had a trip where I was super bummed about my lack of effort in nearly ever aspect of my life. My house was very messy, my bathroom was a bio hazard. I was tripping hard and broke down crying in my bathroom. That was about a year ago. My house has been spotless since and I work much harder to spend time with my wife and kids.

Hahaha comparing oxy’s to shrooms is the funniest false syllogism. They are literally completely different tools, as far as medicines go.

Shrooms helped me get off weed. That was a daily thing for me, and it was a burden. I was always broke, doing deadend jobs, overweight, no energy and isolated. I did these a few times, it’s beautiful.

Arguing that psilocybin (schedule I drug - no acceptable medical use) shouldn't be legal under any circumstance by comparing it to the opioid epidemic (available by prescription) doesn't make sense to me. Essentially we're being told that no one should be able to use it, because no one has found an accepted use. However, it's very difficult to find a use when no one is allowed to use it (or very few). Furthermore, we're told that it can be addictive even though it doesn't cause physical dependency, yet so can TV, YouTube, and CandyCrush.

Protect people from themselves by preventing them from making informed decisions is not what I consider progress. At some point, people have to be responsible for themselves or deemed incapable of doing so.

If anything they helped my anxiety and bipolar mood swings. Also made me feel my body and realize I needed to lose weight

As long as people take actors like this seriously our consciousness will be forever stunted.
