when this first happened i read somewhere that at that depth and the pressure down there the implosion speed was 4x faster than you can blink your eye, absolutely amazing. instant lights out w/no pain and you're just red biological material in the water.

Already skinned alive before the submarine collapsed

What always gets me about this is the fact that they were instantly killed but we spent several days looking for them under the impression they were running out of oxygen.

The duration of the implosion sequence is estimated to be about 31mS, with an implosion collapse equating to approximately 1, 500mph. This is a fraction of the time that the human body requires to experience pain sensation or sensory perception.

In essence, they never knew what hit them or the severity thereof. Painless deaths.

This haunted me. I truly believed they were somewhere in the ocean running out of oxygen and it deeply disturbed me. I did not wish them death, but I am grateful that they did not have to suffer.

The good and worst part here is that it took seconds for our body to feel the pain, while the Oceangate's implosion only took milliseconds, so which means they never feel any pain, but instead they became a squashed pumpkin underneath the sea level.

This is a pretty accurate depiction of what a sales meeting at my work feels like.

What saddens me is that they may not have felt anything when they died, but they certainly felt the fear of imminent death with the noises and malfunctions occurring in the submarine, and there was a young man among them

It's mindblowing that science makes something like implosion possible. It's so fast I can't wrap my head around jt.

I don't know why I still click on these. They invoke existential dread in me. But the incident and science behind it, as well as how such a colossal mess up like this could still happen in this day and age is fascinating.

In about one millisecond they went from Ocean Gate to Heaven's Gate.

I wonder if it's like one minute you're anticipating visiting the wreckage of the Titanic, and in a flash, you're onboard having dinner with all the doomed passengers

This was incredibly soothing. There's something nice about an instant end. Like dying in your sleep. It's just an instant lights out. As weird as it is to say. If I could choose, this would definitely be up there in ways to go.. graphic for everyone else, but instant for you

You can understand water pressure how by realising how heavy a gallon or 5 gallon of liquid is. You need the same amount of pressure on the inside as in the outside, once the press is greater outside it collapses, now imagine a whole ocean suddenly dropping on top of you.

Titanic sank 113 years ago - and it's still taking lives even now.

Props to the cameraman for swimming down and recording the implosion

I like how even though they didn’t know, they had the faces of people who knew.

Even if they didn’t actually know when they died, they would’ve known this was coming, that would’ve been terrifying knowing you were going to die without realising it eventually.
