React content with genuine input and decent commentary is something that's sadly hard to find on YouTube and finding this channel was a great day.

I played this once, there were basically three types of people:
A: The people actually trying to keep the plant working and stable
B: The people just looking around
And C: The people trying to cause a meltdown

I have never had this many replies, 65 at the time of writing this

theres a roblox game called realistic boiling water reactor simulator. some of the people on the dev team are real nuclear industry professionals, like yourself. as such, the game is quite detailed and worth checking out!

QSERF has to be one of the most detailed reactor games I’ve ever seen, can’t say realistic due to the idea being fictional, yet the effort put into it is amazing

I love content where people with actual professions react to something that has a relation to their job, especially in Roblox.
BUT DOING THAT WITH A RUBEN SIM VIDEO? THATS EVEN BETTER.

The main takeaway here is that you usually have to TRY to get the reactor to go supercritical when other people are around... It takes a small group of sane people to stabilize a reactor, and it takes the collective agreement of everyone in the room to make a reactor fail... There are dozens and dozens of failsafe's and mechanisms to keep a reactor from doing this, and 90% of the time, it's collective human incompetency that causes problems, not the actual reactor itself... Reactors were made to be (nearly) as safe as they can possibly, or reasonably be...

5:29 I do wanna mention that in that game, it would probably still have taken a minute to raise the control rods, and he would've had to keep pressing the "raise control rods" button to keep raising them; presumably Ruben cut all of this out for the purpose of pacing.

We live in a time where a nuclear engineer has reacted to a roblox video and posted it on youtube.

If you can find a video on “Realistic Boiling Water Reactor V2”, you should definitely make a commentary video on that. It’s incredibly complex and I’m guessing very similar to the real thing.

I don’t know shit about Nuclear engineering but holy shit did I learn so much while being actively invested during this video. Very rare to come across channels like this. Keep it up man I love this!

In one of these games on Roblox I had one of the reactors up and running and then I accidentally cut power to the whole array of panels and buttons, I was pretty pissed especially considering how I had spent 45 minutes of mindless instruction following and waiting in order to get up to that point, and then one lever ruined it all. Props to you for doing it for real, though!

In a games where you're always above consequences, there's always that persistent feeling of wanting to blow up the facility. Because if you can, You Must.

Aside from that, great video. It's always amusing and interesting to see professionals reacting to silly things like this and giving their opinions.

Basically at minute 10:00 (or somewhere around) someone may have gotten the rods down all the way because in that game the reactor does not scram it's self (players can scram but it only happens once we are in the meltdown event)

Years ago, I played that solo and it was *designed* to always end in catastrophe. Not sure if the dev changed it since then. One thing you might like for the game Minecraft is the tech mods that it has. Not sure what some are called now, but there is/was Atomic Science (which relied on many other mods to work interchangeably) where you could build your own nuclear reactor in that game to generate power (typically Redstone Flux (RF for short)). Both Minecraft and Roblox has some really tech-heavy games/mods going for them and all enjoyable.

This game is underrated for 3 reasons:
1: 4 or more people trying to meltdown the place
2: People asking not to SCRAM
3: The people who actually do the plant work but fail

Also, to MELTDOWN the reactor in this game, you need to set the control rod insertion all the way to 0%

Nice to see a reaction channel that not only makes you learn stuff but is also enjoying the silliness of the video
