I imagine the first thing to happen is that your Mars Curiosity Rover warranty would be void.

I think you missed the one where he printed Wikipedia, you should watch that next.

Your comment about using magic got me thinking. It's too bad we can't generate nearly unlimited energy using a magic box we put some special rocks and water into. It could boil the water and we could use that energy to change humanity for the better. Ah well. Dreams.

"well over a billion cubic kilometers of water"
I have to admit that to me, even though metric is the system I use every day, this sounded too much and I googled and did some math - you were right of course!
But, fun fact, despite that huge number a sphere of all the earths water only would have a radius of about 690 km.
Learning is fun, thanks!

Excellently put, without a magnetosphere, nothing would last.

Funny you should mention needing greenhouse gasses. Mars is about 95% CO2 and of course, this would add quite a bit of water vapor. So, there's plenty of GHG by percentage, but at low pressure so probably not that much of an effect.

We definitely have topography maps of mars or aka peaks and valleys… so we know where the water would go, and yes it would be liquid for a good while…..

We just recently found water on mars down about 20 or so km down in the crust

Here's a request you might be interested in. Death Battle's video on Cole MacGrath vs Alex Mercer. The verdict behind that one actually draws quite a bit on physics and it's a lot more lowkey compared to the episodes you've already watched.

Space isn’t “cold” there’s just a lack of things that keep you warm….

I've always wondered about nuclear stuff I visited ansto reactor. I do remember it was used to generate neutrons for research and not power. I have a question if you've seen other neutron focused rea tors

Over time water mass would be added to Mars in any effort to colonize the planet. Habitats would be covered in plastic with coatings to hold heat and block harmful rads. To speed heating, collect needed water, oxygen and minerals to support such a colony I would propose to build two deep hole style mines at the Martian poles that at the point it becomes too hard to continue deeper place a large iron rod in the center to as you so put help strengthen a magnetic field. Perhaps even add a coil to boost it at times. For long term water and air. diverting comets to a low orbit and controlled entries to preselected zones would help bring in the needs for a growing Martian biomass. I wouldn't propose using sea water in missions either but extra pure water should be on any mission to Mars and nuclear power plants that can supply not just heat and power for people but enough for greenhouses to provide their needed food.

When are you going to react to the Hacksmith's latest lightsaber video? It's been over half a year!
I know the video is titled "I spent 3 years making mini lightsabers you can buy" but half the video is about the awesome cleanroom they constructed in order to continue with the development of their full sized lightsaber and I would love to see your reaction to those parts of the video as I think you would have a lot of good things to say about it.

Matt Damon should be closer to Curiosity than the pole. Just saying.
