Stasis 4.0 - Darkness Subclass Concepts | Destiny 2

Показать описание

Over 3 years ago, destiny introduced one of the most requested updates since the conception of the franchise, playable darkness subclasses. Stasis, as we quickly learned, would change the face of how players build crafted for the rest of the time. Stasis introduced what were at the time massive innovations including a new way of making your subclass, to build defining keyworkds like slow, freeze, and shatter, to even weapon perks like headstone that gave a direct access to an otherwise subclass specific element. Stasis changed the game so much that it completely overshadowed ALL other existing subclasses… yet you would be hard pressed to know that today. Today destiny has updated all of its subclasses to operate using the once innovative build creation design on top of ALL of the subclasses now operating with this new 3.0 aspect and fragment system.

Reminder that DIOmand lance was supposed to break/ shatter stasis crystals at the end of final shape consecration too (3 months have passed they still gave no word about it)

For the warlock’s second super I would like to see something similar to the well of radiance (in fact stasis is the “opposite” of solar): the warlock fits the wand on the ground creating a spherical area where enemies are slowed, similar to how duskfield grenades work + grants frost armor to you and your allies, then the wand will work as a more powerful stasis turret, freezing the targets on hit

Still waiting for them to fix howl of the storm because it hasn’t been working with the super since final shape dropped

I've had an idea since prismatic with the new transcended bar. What if all subclass got their own like ability bar and all you need to use for it to charge is to use your abilities and weapons affiliated to the subclass. When you have filled the bar, you will be "overcharged" and in the subclass loadout tab there will be an empty slot for a third aspect that will be activated when overcharged and you will recieve elemental weapon damage affiliated to the subclass and some bonus resistance because your character will be embedded with the element of the subclass you use, your base melee attacks (no charged attacks) also afflict a debuff on enemies, scorch, slow, blind, sever or suppression. Nothing too crazy such as prismatic where kinetic weapons gets buffed and abilities recharge faster.

Imagine Winter's Wrath for example: "Oh man, I really like using bleak watcher and iceflare bolts but I love using frostpulse too!" No worries, slap frostpulse in the overcharged slot.

Prismatic could also get the melee treatment based on the super you are using.

Given the name for the Titan Stasis subclass is Behemoth, a super that encases the Titan in Stasis armor like Icefall, but with even more DR and the size of some PvE bosses would be so interesting. You could have it draw enemy aggression too if you want its main role to be causing chaos and protecting the team.

My biggest problem when recently playing stasis, is there are all these parts of the kit that benefit you whenever you shatter a crystal, but it does nothing if your teammate shatters your crystal. If they could change it from "whenever you shatter a crystal" to "whenever your crystals are shattered" that would be nice.

i thought of a melee concept for stasis titan that i dubbed "tundra smash." you charge up a punch similar to thunderclap, but you instead slam the ground which releases a damaging ring pulse. this would shatter frozen targets and glacier crystals, but will also slow any targets that are not currently affected by a freeze.

this would synergize perfectly with behemoths existing kit, whilst also providing an effective way to slow targets as its currently very tough for them to do so.

Ok, I had no idea broodweaver was so low in the played subclass list😳

Completly unrelated but that deadcells music hit like a jetski full of nostalgia

I used to love stasis cuz it was the expansion I bought at the start of my d2 addiction

Icefall Mantle didn't get Frost Armor because it would be a massive nerf. Currently Glacial Guard gives a 100 point overshield with 62.5% Dr that stacks with Frost armor

I've always liked the idea of a Stasis Warlock super revolving around the Bleak Watcher aspect,

*Siren's Syzygy:*
A memento of a lie once told to the Hive, frozen in memory, brought forth by your will.

You strike the ground with the Winter's Wrath staff, and about 5-10m above you, a giant Bleak Watcher turret forms with smaller turrets orbiting it as a firing squad, prioritizing Bosses, Minibosses, and Champions. Does comparable damage to base Silence and Squall, and functions like a Frostpulse rift for that one pair of Exotic Gloves that gives Stasis Weapon damafe.

Super ideas:

Hunter: Hadal Psalm - inspired by warlocks song of flame but stasis and hunter flavored. Creates large (equivalent to radius of duskfield when stacking renewal and touch of winter) slowing field stuck to hunter. allies inside field gradually gain FA stacks and have their stasis and kinetic weapons apply slow at varying rates. melee throws three shurikens with each having two additional bounces. grenade is replaced by a very fast, straight trajectory dart that is precision damage capable and deals increased damage to slowed targets and magnified damage to frozen targets. damage stacks with fissures.

Warlock: Majesty of the Night Sky - Opens a vast portal of starless darkness above the warlocks casting position. portal rains down an increasing volume of stasis hail-boulders over it's lifetime. Hail-boulders explode on contact with terrain and targets into a slowing aoe. Hail-boulders that directly contact frozen targets cause a shatter with both magnified radius and damage. Both of which stacks with fissures.

Titan: Obsidian Lance - Titan charges up (hold ok) and hurls forth a lance-like comet of stasis matter that freezes combatants (slows targets) and generates cyrstal along the terrain in it's tail. generates an enormous mass of stasis crystals at it's impact site. precision capable. Basically the main projectile collides with terrain and targets for the crystal mass generation, however it has side projectile "curtains" that act like that taken captain's blight ball which do not directly impact terrain terrain or targets but will cause effects to them. in this case freezing combatants, slowing targets, and in the case of terrain generating a single crystal at set intervals of distance with clockwise or counter-clockwise staggering (i.e. if the terrain is question is a tube small enough to be hit along the entire inner radius then it would look like a spiral of crystals going down the tube). Holding charge increases impact damage and size of crystal mass generation.

Stasis has a special place in my heart since I started in Beyond Light

These changes add so many cool loops in to the subclasses. Not to mention seeing a whole room detonate cause a single red bar, ,bled out" while frozen would be epic. Great change ideas.

Some Stasis changes I'd like to see, from a Titan-only player:

Frost Armor should work like Wormgod Caress and work off a meter. Pick up Stasis Shards to build your stacks of Frost Armor, with the most stacks you have granting more damage resistance. But instead of dropping off completely with a timer, the meter slowly drains over time as if the Frost Armor was thawing out. Ramp up its DR at the highest level to reward you for building and playing into Frost Armor.

Second, I want to merge Cryoclasm into Howl of the Storm, then give Cryoclasm a whole new meaning: Any Stasis Crystals you create automatically shatter upon creation and have a larger area of effect. This effectively turns all Stasis Crystals into Stasis frag grenades and would work with Exotics like Hoarfrost-Z as well as weapons with Headstone.

If we're talking new abilities for Stasis, I've got a few that leans more into range:

"Stasis Cannon" Super - Whip out a heavy Stasis cannon and fire Stasis cannonballs that shatter on impact. It'd have a slow rate of fire, only able to shoot 10 cannonballs if fired the entire time, and your movement would be heavily impaired, being pretty much immobile when firing. But it'd excel at long-range and longer-duration damage phases.

"Rocket Punch" Melee - You know the Stasis gauntlet around your fist when using Shiver Strike and Glacial Quake? Imagine punching forward, launching that Stasis gauntlet forward like a projectile. It's plot through Stasis Crystals, shattering them as it goes, and deal big shatter damage upon impact with terrain or an enemy. Punch air, send fist forward.

I've been working on a whole document of changes I'd like to see for Titans, and although I haven't quite gotten to Stasis yet, these are some ideas I've posted on Reddit that I'll be polishing up.

I feel in general the game needs to provide more reward for applying slow rather than to just get to freeze and honestly I would love for them to find a way to reward players for not shattering frozen targets wheather it be buffs they get while targets are frozen and that frozen targets emit some debuff like you said or the enemy that was frozen is still debuffed once the freeze is over with maybe a new debuff (or it could just be they are slowed still). I also think fragments need to play around more with buffs and debuffs from the changes mentioned above.

Btw as someone who doesn't play the other classes much how good is arc for Hunter and Titan because arc to me feels like the most niche subclass and stasis really only got worse once strand came along (it still needed something though and strand showed its flaws from being the first subclass under the new customization). Idk the last time I saw an arc titan in general or an arc hunter not punching 😅

Funny this showed up, cause i've been making concept art for (titan specifically) darkness supers and exotics that pair with them. currently I have 2 original supers and 2 Pyrogale-style modifications to Glacial Quake (a light-attack and a heavy-attack variant), making them fun, powerful, but still relatively balanced whilst sticking to the current kit as much as possible. Once i've finalized everything and content with it, i'll post it to the Discord

pain.

Ideas:

Slow: stacks decreas slower but change less how much you are slowed.

Freeze: lasts longher no dr

Glaciers: yes slowing field

Frost armor:
No heal
5% dr per stack (25% or 40%)
Duration 8s -> 10s
Decays overtime (melts)
Less and decreasing dr for more time 40s -> 80s

Diamond lances:
freeze melee upclose
Titans: thrown shatter
Chargable more damage less aoe
for everybody, maybe.

New grenade: shatter grenade.

New supers:

Hunter:
Roaming first person
Kama in your right hand: right click(or trigger) melee attacks, but if you aim you throw the kama and freezes targets on hit (you can hold to charge the attacks both melee and ranged)
Standard melee: bo-shuriken (made of ice) 3x charges, can deal precision damage.
Can throw grenades,
Nearby enemies get slowed and You Move faster.

Titan:
One and done
Creates stasis crystals (stronger and last longer) in a bunker shape. (Ward of dawn size)
The bunker is like the sentinel site with a large window on each surface to get in or out and shoot thru.
Allies inside get frost armor
enemies (up to 2/3m outside) get slowed.
On top there could be 4 stasis turrets And where the super was cast there could spawn diamond lances over time for the duration of the super.

Warlock:
One and done
The warlock flies in the air and creates two staffs to throw.
The staffs last a long time (maybe enough to have 4 out) and cover a large area with a slowing field, (not much damage, high crowd control).
Staffs can be destroyed by enemies (well of radiance like)
For each staff "active" the warlock has slightly increased ability regeneration.

This was a really cool decision. I got to be a part of live, in chat, and I love this kind of stuff. I'm so happy to be a part of this community.
