I'm so tired of CEOs saying "it's a sad day" while they are the ones that caused it and sit back and continue to make millions

“We were overly ambitious”

Who is we, Pete. Who is we. Is it the people you fired, Pete? I doubt it, Pete.

I can’t believe that after the Witness has been defeated, the next great antagonist is revealed to be Pete Parsons

The worst part, the people responsible for this mess are the only ones who escape unscathe. Hopefully they face the consequences at some point. I imagine even sony is mad at the bungie execs rn

The line about Lightfall's quality feels like scumbag Parsons is putting the blame for all this on Bungie employees. The man needs to be removed.

2:08 If I’m correct the people laid off in October didn’t get any severance packages or just didn’t get much. I’m not sure, but I do remember there was some drama around that during the original layoffs.

I can't wait until they release the next 12-player mission where you fight Pete Parsons to stop the Final Layoff so he can't buy his 26th car.

Remember when Iwata took a 50% pay cut when the Wii U failed. Yeah me too...

Bungie’s management team really needs some serious change, if they just recently released one of their most successful expansions the series has ever seen yet they still have to make layoffs, even more than last time. Something just isn’t right here and maybe I don’t know what I’m talking about but I think that it’s a bit more than just games are more expensive to make nowadays or bungie overestimating what they’re capable of. From mismanagement to complete negligence, something isn’t right with the whole management system of bungie because it’s not normal to burn through almost 40% of your employees in less than a few years and maybe it really is time for someone like Sony to step in and do something because bungie obviously can’t do this themselves.

As players of the game, we complain all the time about the nitty gritty but also appreciate when effort has been put into making the game better. The FinalShape exceeded community expectations and blew previous DLCs out of the water in terms of sales and reviews, so why are we in the same situation we were in over a year ago, except this time it's even MORE critical staff members getting cut?

Imagine pouring your heart and soul into a project, recieving critical acclaim and still losing your job.

The games industry has been struggling with mass layoffs since the pandemic but Bungie is really fumbling the bag more than most, whether that is due to poor management or not, something needs to change. I'm looking at you, Pete.

Game do bad, get fired

Game do good, get fired

Execs need their extra millions in bonuses I guess. Absolutely awful

My only real takeaway here is that Bungie and the broader gaming landscape needs to unionize. The people most responsible for making the games we love are constantly treated as expendable whereas the C-suite executives can only fail upwards and never take any of the responsibility for decisions they personally made.

I've supported Bungie since Halo 1, and I've supported Destiny since the beta test. I no longer can with the executives in charge since the employees I actually care about are just going to be let go anyways.

It sounds like this secret 3rd incubation project was the real killer. They definitely should have just been working on Destiny and marathon. This is very clearly the fault of leadership.
