So basically: Dual-Channel High Speed memory + Dual-Graphics when running an AMD APU & GPU, gets you the best performance if you're on a tight budget and/or don't like Intel/Nvidia parts.

For APU's, overclocing the NB also has a pretty decent performance boost when gaming, and allows for even higher memory benchmarks.

Once DDR4 is cheap and mainstream, and if AMD gets its act together this should be a very viable solution (maybe in 1.5 to 2 years) for gaming. The current APUs are good chips for basic home and business PCs along with media center applications. Currently though the younger/poorer PC gamers are far better off using cheaper DDR3 along with a lower end CPU (less than $100) and a $120 to $150 GPU.

James check out the difference he said when running dual graphics. You don't need a top speed ram kit when using dual graphics. And this will be less of an issue as we get newer APUs. More ram on the GPU will do more to help then the system ram.
This would be good for a good cheap LAN pc build. And it won't be long till we see APU with the power of my 6300, well actually I have a 6350. It is mostly the on chip graphics that are lagging behind but the graphics on chip still out preforms intels graphics on chip.

AMD is moving towards a good future with APU because what APU can do for the market is going to be insane.

But the faster memory just improves the Graphical portion of the APU? I have an A8-6500 Richland APU with 8GB (4x2) 1600Mhz RAM coupled with a discrete Nvidia 750Ti. I no longer use the 8570D that's built within the APU.

My motherboard is the MSI MS-7778 JasmineR which uses the FM2 socket. The highest I could go without upgrading my PSU is the A10-6700, but it has a worse performance/dollar ratio compared to the A8-6500.

Every APU system I've built has not been for gaming, but rather as a simple machine / low end workstation. It would have been nice to see the benefits in programs like Photoshop / Maya / Unreal Engine (Editor, and yeah I know good luck lol) / even browsing the web / watching youtube or streams.

I know it's not easy to benchmark photoshop, especially since any time requiring operation in it can be extremely variable on the same system! but there are ways to compare.

Thanks for the video either way, very necessary information most people probably don't consider!

When switching from a single dimm to dual were you simply doubling the ram capacity or were you switching from a 1x8GB stick to 2x4GB just for the dual channel?

Please answer this is important.

this is also true for Intel iGPUs or are they too weak to make use of the higher bandwidth

this is a contradiction to AMD plan of cheaper pc´s with higher performance, because getting that kind of ram is just not cheap.

At the end it becomes better to get a dedicated gpu, with a cheaper mbo, ram and proc. (for gaming ofc)
