In this Bonsai video I show you how to care for Azalea Bonsai using techniques like; Deadheading, Pruning and Repotting. Azaleas are a popular choice for Bonsai because of their small, delicate leaves and beautiful flowers.

I explain the process of deadheading, a technique that involves removing seed heads to prevent energy wastage on seed production. I cover how to prune your Azalea Bonsai to achieve the desired height and explain the process of pruning for bifurcation. I also show you a method to thicken Azalea trunks using a pond basket and discuss various soil types suitable for Azaleas. Additionally, I demonstrate how and when to repot your Azalea safely (especially in the UK) so that they do not become pot-bound, setting them on their way to becoming a great bonsai.

Azaleas are part of the Rhododendron family, which contains over 1,000 species of plants. They are native to Asia, Europe, and North America, and come in a wide range of colors, from white to pink, red, orange, and even purple. They are a great choice for Bonsai because of their versatility, beauty, and ease of care. With proper training and maintenance, they can thrive for many years, bringing joy and serenity to any space.

First time catching one of your videos, good stuff man. Also great timing as the day you posted this was the day I brought home my first two azalea to get started. Really excited to add some flowers to my existing bonsai.

Thank you. I have two azaleas that have not gotten any taller in six years, even though they have prolific flowers in May. I’m going to deadhead like you have demonstrated and see if that helps to add height.

hi, i am also working with azaleas, but never had such a courage to cut them the same way like you ... but still keeping only 2 branches and cutting deadheads ... very nice work ... will try your mixture of soil, i am using peat substrate only, but it is not ideal

Yeah i did found some pots of Azalea on clearance for about 1.5 usd (And there is about 5 trees in one pot lol[I live in Poland, we have very affordable plants and trees]) so i did just get 15, very cheap Azalea trees to train on and to try and make them beautifull.

This was a very well executed tutorial on getting this done, also the full explanation of getting air pockets out from under the bonsai in order to have a healthy root ball grow. Really enjoying your content.
Maybe at some point you could visit Tradman's bonsai in japan?

Great, informative video. I just picked up an azalia from a local nursery and because it was looking a bit unhealthy I was able to get it for half price. Now I'll take this info and use it to bring back this beautiful little plant. Cheers

♥️ Merci pour les conseils. Cela complète ma connaissance sur les azalées 👍👌. Elles sont tout de même particulières et fragiles à cause de leurs besoins d'humidité, d'acidité de terre et de luminosité sans soleil direct. 😊
